OK, my first point of confusion is done.

My second however is not done, you quote quantum theory in explaining the nature of light but as I understand it, coventional physics (if you can call quantum theory conventional) cannot ever explain pre big bang events as this area of physics is made redundant once beyond the singularity.
Still confused
But to protect the other readers from this now blatently hi-jacked thread from further boredom, I will let you off this particular cosmological hook :)

Ahh so you do have some cosideration for the audience :)

Was it Heisenberg himself who said if you study Quantum Mechanics and are not astonished and confused by the implications, then you really didn't understand it in the first place?

Hope I proved sufficiently knowledgeable to meet the Robbo Seal of Approval by the way :p

Next thread hijacking I get involved in will be based around Political Theory and/or Economics... that's my field of expertise!

Nb. Robbo, I'll never be able to read Stoic philosophy again without thinking of P8ntballer Forums... perhaps you'd care to sign my copy of The Republic. Freaking Socratic Methodology!

And on the Mag-Cocker issue. Where's Manike with the Bench Test data? :D

If the speed of light was slowed to just 37 mph, Beak, there would be no day :)

busy working.

I've done this one to death before anyway and am bored with it to be honest, it ultimately comes down to personal preference.

Which side would you like me to argue on? :D I can argue for and against both depending on circumstances.

BTW I shoot an Electro cocker, a manual level 10 RT and an e-mag...

As an Impy/Shocker user myself no real axe to grind either way (prefer the looks of Cockers as a rule though)... but those Mag owners always seem more easily wound up on the issue so if you want my opinion then I vote you annoy them!

i know its a bit off topic but refering back to the comment about 'barely detectable' stuff, remember things are infinately smaller and bigger there is always somthing bigger or smaller, no matter the size of the object.

science is only based on other scientific theories which fit nicely together, more complecated science can only be backed up using science, so it could all be wrong, and our whole perception of our universe and life could be wrong.

Mordhir, the point was, Zero means nothing, relative quantities imply something above Zero !!!!!

As for science being based on science, somewhere along the line, science has to be based on observations.

Mordhir, read Descartes and all will become clear as to how much truth you can attach to certain areas of knowledge and thus science.

i wasn't really talking about "zero..." i was just making a statement.

hhmmm descartes, he wasn't the one who first put forward the idea of the make up of of electrons was he?, do u know where i can get it, local librarys are crap, tried to find an English translation of Sun Tzu's 'Art of War', they didn't know what i was talking about.

Bit of semantics here but I believe they call it "Zero Point Energy" because it still exists without any mass present at absolute zero (-273C) not because the energy level is exactly zero itself

Much of modern physics is actually more extrapolation than observation. Think about relativity, it was readily understood well before it could be proved in action (by atomic clocks and the observation of the Red/Blue-Shift of light from Stars moving relatively away from, or towards, the observer)

Oh yeah, Mordhir. Descartes was a famous Philosopher of whom Robbo is a big fan.

Also you can get a nice English translation of Sun Tzu's "The Art of War" from Wordsworth Classics, it comes in a combined volume with a Chinese political text from the same era called "The Book of Lord Shang". In case you want another recomendation, "On War" by Carl Von Clausewitz or Nicolo Machiavellis own "Art of War" are well worth reading too :)

Robbo/Hotpoint/Baca and any others I missed..well done !!! good thread hijack..to be honest the physics arguements are way more fun to read even though never paid attention in that particular class. Much better subject matter than the recurring original thread topic.

Keep up the good work
