You're right Chicago, but people hating each other should not stand in the way of sensible business decision-making. Hell, I hate an abundance of people, but it does not stop me working towards a goal. This isn't about hate, it's about certain peoples ego's, pure and simple.
We are talking about paintball...right?

Yeah he is right... and there is a big difference between having a to occasionally deal with people you hate, and then being in business with them in a major way.... and that is exactly where paintball always stumbles.... you don't trust people you hate, so we have all learned to accept the fact that companies like WDP and SP will never be able to pull the sport in the same direction - together.

All the old anomosity is standing in the way of paintball developing further.

Think for a second what could happen if the whole industry backed the same organisation and the same strategy, and all the resources going into hurting eachother were directed outward - towards the general public.

Ofcourse you still need to compete - as in any industry - but you don't see Nike and Adidas trying to take football in 2 different directions, because they are not professional enough to agree on an overall strategy for the sport, and see the wisdom in doing so.

But, alas, most of the principals in paintball today are hung up on ancient history between them... back when every second company in paintball was - at best - a little outside the normal scope of business ethics.

Paintball is going nowhere untill professional management takes over in the companies that dominate the sport - be that the existing ones, or new players that buy their way into a market with great potential.

We just all have to sit back and wait for big business to see the potential in paintball - or the current owners becoming old and tired enough to stop running things themselves - and then hire professionals to run their companies, rather than some old paintball buddy that used to be a good backplayer and was hilarious saturday night in the hotel bar ;)

A better way to say it is this:

A paintball company owner would rather control something they always lose money on than risk allowing someone else to be successful at it.

It's true to say that there is a fair amount of hate going on but this is life just reflecting itself onto Paintball and really nothing too surprising going on but as in life, there are universals, factors that are common-denominators.

The hate Jerry attracts does seem to be right across the spectrum of Paintball and I find this hard to reconcile because I really like him as a social animal.
I have been in his company many times, spent many hours waffling with him; he is a highly intelligent, sometimes witty man with an awful lot to give Paintball if he chose to.

And 'therein lies the rub' as Shakespeare once put it.

It's his business practices that tend to overshadow the many good points Jerry has, he's just too damned greedy and power crazy in my opinion and sees the acquisition of greenbacks and control of Paintball as paramount in his life regardless of normal social sensibilities.

He seems to have a slightly skewed moral base when it comes to money but with money allegedly being the 'root of all evil', it shouldn't come as any surprise but it does seem to affect him more than others.

It's a shame really because he really is a cool guy to be around and I know of a few occasions when he has been extremely generous to some of his friends but I'm afraid these are pushed into the background by his other actions.

But when so many people have the same view about the same person, it is hard to ignore and I'm afraid cannot be immersed in the general 'hate' thang that goes on in any sport.
This degree of hate does tend to validate that opinion :(

Oh, you can predict the results alright....
Wait a minute - maybe we are aty cross purposes. ;)
I'm not sure that anyone posting here has wildly divergent opinions regarding the players in this latest drama so I thought it might be more interesting to prognosticate as to the ultimate result--or should that be, fallout?

I'd go first but then what would be the point for the rest of you? :)
