But - here is the reason language makes a difference:
If you play on the Philly Americans, you know that if you start to underperform or lose your level, there are numerous players that will jump at the opportunity to play on a big time Pro team.... and thus you are always under pressure: Perform or get cut !
When you play on the Ugly Ducklings, you know that if you start to underperform or lose your level, there are next to no one to take your spot, and as such you can afford to be less stabile in your performance.... Not that players do that conciously, but the lower pressure DOES have a psycological impact !
If everyone in Europe spoke the same language, a team like ours could pick up players from all over, and as such the pressure would be much greater on team player to perform - every time - all the time
Huh ??
off course it makes a difference
but i don't see a valid Difference in your example though
I bet if there were more more Danes playing Paintball on at least AM Blevel u would pick them
and not only because of Language but also out of culture and the fact that the Dane lives closerby, so is easier to practice with,
compared to a DutchGuy who can speak Danish as if it's his native language,
So language takes away communicationbarriers
that's a fact,
but even if we all spoke English or Danish for that matter
u would still most of the time pick guys who live nearby,
and have the same cultural background so prefereably a dane
but if Danes like that are not available
then it becomes a language thing i don't get that
After all
most of us speak english already,
and if u don't speak english
but are an avid Baller u have to learn it if u want
to know what is going on in the PBworld nowadays
Actually, just in case anyone missed it:
>I was spending over $200 (I'm not rich!) a week on paint so that I could learn how to play a back corner in 10-man on the weekends and drill during the week at indoor to improve my shooting skills. Not a week went by that I didn't play at least two days and my skills improved quickly as a result.
and yes spending lots of money
on paint says something about what u a are willing to sacrifice for paintball,
but if u don't have the competition to practice against
and no chance to get better while spending those 200$
then it would only be a waste of time and money
So the Playerpool
is still a big factor to get better and better and to keep growing
Check out Takedown's post...those guys are what, top 8 Am in the US, and he was paying $200 a week on practice paint..show me ONE PLAYER in Europe doing that...
the amount of $ 200 is relative
if an 18 year old guy (still studying) pays 200 euro a month
for his paintballneeds
he might be even making a bigger sacrifice
