Heh....

Once again, I'll remind everyone to take what's posted here with a grain of salt. Especially what TJ says. ;) He's got some good tidbits of information, but he's putting it together all wrong.

As for the 'Big Games is where it's at', that's where the monoey and spectators comes from (at least, product seling money), but like any other sports, it's the broadcast version that generates the interest, advertising dollars, and where the battle for product share is fought. A lot easier to get a small number of pro players to use your product to influence the masses than to try and convince the masses to buy your product through some other means.

Remember, big games don't have spectators, just participants. It's not better or worse, just different. And both sides of the "fence" will each other. Broadcast tournament paintbal will generate more rec players, more rec players will generate more tournament players and interested spectators, more spectators will lead to more broadcasts, etc.

I know this is *way* out of date but I remember the first few NvS games that were held in years gone by. When the mighty Ledz led the North to victory after victory over the southerners.

I think it was the third that stopped me playing big games. I'd never before seen such blatant and disgraceful forms of cheating in order to get a win in a "fun" game. I watched wiping, playing on, hot guns, (people winding up automags on field to get extra range) overshooting, player abuse physical as well as verbal and a myriad of other things from my opponents, (they probably said the same thing but I saw what they did).

I could blame the 'press' a bit here for all the "South must win at all costs" stuff but I won't ;), but I never played a big game ever after that and neither did any of my mates that were there.

I hear Kennys Revenge was totally different to my experience of Big Games so maybe I'll try another one:D

Oh and I left the S2002 at Scunny with a HUGE smile on my face. We didn't win and I got nominated for Prat of the Day :(, (which I apparently won!), But it was such a good day I didn't care.

Everyone around me seemed to have a good day too. Even the weather smiled.

So not all rec-ball is good and not all tourney-ball is bad.

Oh and TL, alcohol kills brain cells...I should know I've got very few left.

Now where's that JD & coke

Ah Mr Raehl

As I said when I posted, what I said was right at that time...now if you have anymore info you'd care to share with tha community then feel free. Your credibility is a bit stretched though, as some of tha things you told us would 'definitely' happen with College X-Ball didn't, did it? :p

Latest TJ hears is that Richmond is back in PSP, and that PSP will operate a suck it and see policy...i.e. first few PSP events of 'o3 will be all X, and then they'll take a view...

Sounds to me like tha brave new world of pball is already being dragged backward into tha same incestuous mire it was in b4...

LMAO, what bollocks! :)

As someone who regularly travels the world playing big games and tournaments I'll state quite happily that I see more cheating at Big Games than I do at tournaments. The World Cup being an exception :(

Recreational players cheat as much as tourny players it's just less likely anyone will see them or give a ****.

Al, I can't wait to get a chance to play it also.

Some of the X-ball from the college tourny was pretty boring to be honest (but not all) and was played like normal paintball.

But it was much more entertaining when the pro's got at it.

I want to play it soooo bad :D
