Cheers, we got crossed wires somewhere that the millenium field wasnt the finals field and we got told it was the Dye field as we were told that the millenium field was only for the M5's thing as it is not like a 7man field like the rest of the fields and that made sense to us beacause of last year

Well.. what can I say that nicK didn't say yet!!!

this Tournament was great, the new M7 launch European paintball in a new area, Me and my friend Tavarez have been playing some psp event last year and practices with Miami effect and Strange, we were pretty sure this format gonna be a real success, we were only worried about reffing, cuz X-Ball is faster and it needs the best reffs, and you know what? I think we got those reffs during this event,
But the job is not done yet, to be an outstanding success, we need ONLY PRO REFFS. Why? because the millennium series needs no suspicions on reffs, and that will never happen with team reffing ( I m not talking about this event -I didn't heard anything bad about team reffing in marseille- but about the future of European paintball) If reffs are employed by the series the series can have a control on them, that what has been done with the NXL in the US and the result is: a real SPORT where cheating becomes impossible so the best one win the tournament!
About the best one, let me talk about Menace,
those guys were the best ballers in town last week end, and no one can say something different, except if you were sleeping during last 2years!!!
I have a lot of respect for those guys, I'm so frustrated I was not able to play them in the final (I ****ed My shoulder during the semi final game)

Congratulation Team Vision that made the cut during their first Pro tournament ever.
I would like to thanks a lot of people...

Rob and Tyler for learning us a different way of paintball, Fred for beeing a lifetime Tonton, our pits crew that did an incredible job, the best reffing ever,
JT Allstars and Vision yelling in the crowds to help us, Shockwave that land us some stuff to play our final game as team Enemy did, the Cadets from Marseille for being there at any moment, mom, dad and my dog

Ptit Mat

Team Tontons

PS: during our first game against Cyclone we shoot only 2.5 cases of paint
and I think we shoot less paint than year

M5 was superb, It was not quite as billed but worked out better for us as the standard of teams was very high, Ton Tons, Bullets and JT Allstars feeder teams were all playing. The 5th place we acheived was a bloody good acheivement. Great value for money with at least 12 games and not the usual hanging around for hours betwen games like the 7 man.
The HPG guys were great marshalls, we had a couple of bum calls that cost us but these came from the german guys, lol.

The whole tournament was superb, helped by the weather obviously, the X ball format seemed to work very well and was better for the spectators, which I think was shown by the number of non paintballer spectators.

Overall very impressed.:)

Think you will find this will be format for all events, they want you guys to feel part of the show, and it gives a natural break between 3rd-4th and 1st-2nd play-offs. Don't take my word for it, get it straight from the organizers and then you have something to complain about if they change it later.;) :)
Good luck in Bitberg, hope to be there myself.;)

Most teams that got through to the finals in the M7 didnt use over 40 boxes....Fact! so 35/40 boxes divided by 6 games = 6 1/2 boxes approx per game...not bad to be honest...
not strictly true there Mark, we shot way more than that. Think it was just over 50 boxes for the weekend, and we played 50 points in all.

Thanks to the crowd for the support, Laurent and his crew for an awesome event, Dye, Piper and Brandon for the kit. Thanks to Rob for the use of the gun, and Dale, Chuck, Tom and Jimmy for help in the pits.

See you in Germany

A box per point/5-man game is fairly standard - so it sounds just about right :)

Expect Div. 1 teams to be able to do 30 boxes max for an event, so it would be best to play the same format, but fewer points to a match.

BTW - the missing scoreboard is the one thing I missed in my initial post - that is most definitely needed for the spectators.... doesn't need to be fancy or expensive, you can just have a plate on some scaffolding and a guy to exchange cards with numbers on them.

There was a scoreboard... sometimes. They would tow it up and then down again.

Aside the obvious problems with reffing with a new rule in town, I found two quite big problems (in my opinion).

First: there was no longer one event but three independent ones. M5, M7 and 7man were way apart from the other, there was no way you could see a pro game between your own games as it was possible before. I understand the need of a separate staging area for the pros, but not quite sure of the need of having their field apart. Maybe this was just a matter of the venue and will not be like that in following events. In my opinion takes a lot off the atmosphere of the event.

Second: the lack of a rulebook is something I find plainly unacceptable. With no rulebook you're just powerless in front of a marshall. There were many players disqualified for shooting over 15 bps, I'd like to know if they also shot over 15.4 which was the limit that existed in the previous rulebook (65ms between consecutive paintballs).

The ID system is still a expensive joke. I was only asked for it in the Chronic field.

EDIT: Plus... why were the marshalls dressed in playing gear?

About the ID cards, we have been briefed to check everyones ID due before entering the pitch. We (Chronic Field) Reffs have done that all the time. Was a bit shocked when players told me we were the only field that did that. I had one player that had to run out to the car park to go and get his id.

The other thing about the rule book is, maybe it needs to be written in more than one language or get "national" bodies to translate it for the teams that really cannot speak a word of English.

It made our lifes very hard trying to explain most of the M5 teams the rules when they did not speak a single word of English!

We had to wear the Draxxus Gear as the Reffing tops had not been done in time.

Which I may add...three days in that stuff was hardcore. The trouseres did not last a day. After a few slides the knees where gone.

Nick there was actually a digital score board inside of the organization tent of the M7 field but it was laying down on a table and only 1 or 2 people could see it:confused: Im sure there must be the old exl scoreboards about somewhere, don't know why they didn't use them!! Our average paint use was about 1 box per point as well.
