Portox, there are loads of regular teams that would be happy to take on a young keen player and train them up. Once you make it to Uni after college you will be a valuable addition to your Uni team with some experience under your belt.

Just post up in Announcements/Contacts where you live and I'm sure some local teams will get onto you.

recognition from BUSA,
Me and Mark (AUPaintSoc) talked to our VP Sport about BUSA etc, the only advantage we could come up with was recognition & the hopeful benefit that BUSA recognition would have on other Unis and individuals trying to set up clubs.

We also talked about possibilities of becoming recognised as a sprt rather than a society so we are associated with basketball, football etc rather than the fench society and role play. With this there would be a transition point of a year (if the application was accepted) and we would get much less funding, taking us about 10 years apparently for the society to change to a sport and get up to the level of our current funding.

What do you think are the current advantages of BUSA recognition?

our american football team dont even compete in BUSA events, the only benifit we get from being a sport is transport and accomodation to 3 events a year. At the moment this paintball league seems to be 5 events a year so still going to be paying a bit.

Also with us to join a sport you have to pay for insurance which next year will be £35, this year was £25 and yeah before was £1.20 so try and guess how many people cba to join sports, let alone a new sport.

All we really need is ukpsf affliation and the uni's will respect us and notice we are actually competing against each other, with that finance should rise.

Simon and I sopke to our VP sport about the same thing. I guess the benefits will vary from uni to uni. Having the event recognised by busa means that the university gains points for its team's wins. This would provide the uni's with more of an incentive to fund us. It would also add credability. It wouldn't mean that the clubs would have to change over to their Athletic union instead of their student union if it wasn't in their interest to do so - do to additional cost for example.

There aren't any BUSA American football events at the moment. I've no idea why.
