How did u guys kit out ur teams? were u lucky with sponcership or did u all buy ur own stuff?

im tryin to set up my own uni teams and have NO IDEA what to do

thanks
We bought a set of 10 Ions. We raise funds for this kind of purchase through grants from our S.U. membership fees, and through making a commission through organising trips for other groups within our uni.

If you want to get a team going you need to start by getting a club going. This means recruiting members. Most people haven't heard of and would be daunted by competitive paintball, so recball is a more accessible way to get them involved. Also it is easier to get up and running, as you can just go to rental sites.

Once you have gotten your club established you can start introducing the members to sup'air and tourney ball. You'll also be in a position to apply to your S.U. for a grant once you have an established club.

Don't expect a free ride under the name of sponsorship. Bulk buying discounts is a realistic aim, but you need to justify and quantify in detail what the company will get in return (not just vague promises). And you may not be able to get it until you have demonstrated your purchasing power to them.

We have put in for the new matrix which we know we will never get in the hope that we get enough for something like ions, although more likely to be spyders.
:D LOL You've asked for a set of matrices! (yes, that is the plural of matrix :p ) Oh well I suppose you have to aim high some times.

But what ever you do, please don't get spyders. It would just be silly. Get IONS! Its hardly any more and they are a world apart. Seriously dude. Ions! Even if you have to charge you team players a small kit sub at the start of the season to afford them, they will thank you later.

Hell even if they give you enough money for 5 matrices, I'd say buy 10 ions instead. That way you have enough to do 5 on 5 training, and you have plenty of spares for the fast turn arround matches.

Im quite happy with the idea of ramping, anyone seeking to take tourne to the next level after uni will be subjected to it sooner or later, and the sooner players get introduced to it, the better players they will be. As far as team equipment, what we did is find the nearest teams and ask to buy some of their old kit. You will obviously be able to get it at a much cheaper price than retail, and also, you will be making connections which in the world of paintball, is always a good thing. Once you have the connections, then go to people asking for stuff, you'd be surprised how many peoples answers turn to yes's when you add "'So-and-so' and 'that-guy' recommended you" onto the end of your requests.
