We were staging in the main area and did not hear of any thefts, i think what needs to be done in future is spread the word like wildfire so that everyone can keep an eye out, and maybe the thiefs ( i belive it is more than one doing this, maybe a whole bloody team) might get a bit nervous and dump it.

a simple solution

The P.A. use the players wristband. A simple way to stop anyone leaving with the wrong kitbag would be to put a band with the same i.d. number on it. Then you can only go in/out with your own band.
The only problem is, anything could be in the bag.
I think that lockers are the only safe option. Also extra care by the owners. Marker registration wouldn't work, as most of you guys get through several markers a year! admin charges for change reg details could be too costly.
Back on topic, hope you guys have a result getting your kit back.

If a plastic coated cable was secured to one end of the table and then fed through the markers trigger guard and locked at the other end of the table.........a pain in the arse but needed!
Now that's a nice simple idea, we have similar at work on our computers at work, I'll have a look and see if there's anything that would fit thru a trigger guard and secure to a table

maybe you could do a combination of things the wristbands also al the players have numbers with all there kits listed so when they go out the safe area or kit is checked when they leave just an idea and keep the players tents away from the public

The wristband is a step nearer - but are you going to subject yourself to a strip-search every time you want in or out?

The only way to stop theft - is to watch your stuff (or have someone you trust) all the time!

Lockers are about the safest idea - or gun racks with a 'chain' through them (even then - they are not 100% secure).

Maybe CCTV, guard dogs, SAS etc. etc.

Remember - all this would have to be paid for by the players (rise in tourney fees) - so keep it sensible.

The marker reg scheme is a simple one. It is as simple as having a log book for your car - you'd have one for your marker! I know Planet take down details of everyone they sell markers to - maybe asking them to take the extra minute to enter those details on to a web site would be an option.

Wouldn't it be nice to know the history of your 2nd marker BEFORE you parted with your hard-earned?

Yes, there are marker whores out there - but maybe having a 'marker reg certificate' with the gat would up it's price on the 2nd hand market (this is actually the case for caravans!).

Be honest, wouldn't you rather pay an extra 5/10/15 or whatever to KNOW that the marker you are buying is not going to be reclaimed by the police/insurance companies as a piece of stolen property. I know I'd like that piece of mind.

Marker registration would not stop theft - but it would help in the recovery of stolen bits (why stop at markers - why not include air bottle, hoppers, any other 'expensive' bits?).

Something as simple as a 'void when removed' sticker on the item - complete with a MarkReg code - would make tracing a lot easier.

All this would also add to 'paintballs' credibility with the powers (police, HO etc.).

Please don't just dismiss this idea - give it some thought - you never know - it may just work!

I saw two suspicious looking chavs hanging around in the player marquee about mid day at lincoln two months ago, they came in stood there for a few minutes looking kind of sheepish/uneasy and then left, one thing i happened to notice while taking the piss out of thier chavish appearance is that thier trainers where a spotless dazzling white which presumably meant they had only just turned up on site which seems suspicious in itself, so it could be possible that it isnt players and is indeed people showing up to events purely to thieve which is even more worrying if you ask me.
Really bad to hear about things being stolen, i wont be leaving my phone, wallet and keys in my kitbag anymore :]

When we played Lincoln last month, a guy who had his kit on the table next to us, left a phone, wallet and keys in his kit bag.
The thing is, he didn't bother zipping the bag up. It was left open and everything was in plain sight, so I zipped it up. Guys, don't invite theft.

Yesterday was a top day, it's a shame some "TWAT" spoilt it.

Hope you get your stuff back guys.

All the best,

Simon
