With all due respect, at this moment in time you need to be looking at what you can do for paintball rather than what it can do for you before you even start thinking about sponsorship. Students or not, everyone is feeling the pinch at the moment and we'd all like things cheaper, but that's not reality. If you wanna play, you need to pay.

I'm not trying to be an arse, and wish you all the best with the people you've approached so far, I'm just highlighting the fact that it might be better to establish yourself in the paintball community first, so that companies know who you are before you approach them.......hopefully for the right reasons! It might also help to say what it is you're looking for from a sponsorship; cheaper paint, markers, clothing etc so that we can point you in the right direction.

Ainsley has it and as spot on really, and as Robbo has said here and on many other occasions getting sponsorsip is like getting blood out of a stone, because companies can't afford to give'em out, id love my team to be sponsored, but i know its not going to happen for a long time! but it will happen ;)

so the best you could hope for is by ringing warped and basically saying that you are going to be doing alot of business with them in the coming future, and see if they will knock a few sterling shekels off the price :)

Or a friend of mine once went and did a raffle down a few rich estates, she asked for a £1 a ticket, and got over £100 then she binned the raffles and done a runner  no one ever chased it up as they would assume they lost! She was somewhat of a "Bad girl"

yeah man what ainley said. dont run before you can work.
Yeah. Im suppose im going more for reduced prices, ie support, as opposed to actual sponsorship at this stage. As great as it would be, I dont think that companies would be willing to sponsor a team like us, who, whilst not new to tournament, we're not in any of the major leagues.

have you looked at what the uni can offer you?? which uni are you from? (just out of interest)

do you know where you will be training.. as you may be able to strike a slight deal with them if it is going to be regular.

Im at birmingham uni... and thats a topical question! We get some money from the guild, mostly just to cover petrol costs, and have recently managed to get, or will be getting, money to cover the cost of 5 shiny new SLGs.. as we've been playing with 05 ions for too long! We're trying to become part of the AU (athletics union) but they wont let us as they dont consider paintball as a sport.

As for training sites, we're on the lookout for somewhere to go regulary... we're currently thinking about going to the Midland Tournament Paintball Centre.

what wrong with the ions?
put the money for guns towards training.
They kept breaking, and it would cost more to keep repairing/maintaining them than to buy new protos. Also the protos are easier to use. With all the matches (training ones that is) ive played with the ions, Ive never had one thats worked all the way through.

Your name's Gemma.

Are you hot?

Not meaning to be a chauvanist, but get your face out there, it'll help.
Cheers everyone.

And im told im attractive haha.
Relatives and drunk people don't count. You need to pass the Cook$ challenge before you start banding the word 'attractive' around ;)
Do boyfriend and male friends count? And whats this Cook$ challenge of which you speak?
For gawds sake get a photo up of yourself (preferably in as few clothes as possible) before Missy gets here and joins the party ;)

As Cook$ said, a pretty face helps, in fact if you're all a good looking bunch it helps, it maybe well worth while getting a team photo done (no kit etc.) to send out to potential sponsors. Its not a question of what they can do for you but what you can do for them, a bunch of well presented individuals will go down better than knuckle dragging Neanderthals.

Have you thought of approaching local rental sites and offering your services as marshals, you may get some training paint or other support in return for this.

Most importantly, you have cleared the first hurdle by actually managing to spell the word sponsorship properly!
