... i lost 16lb in 10 days and wasn't hungry once.
I think a lot of it is down to the mindset that the person is in. You were obviously getting along really well with whatever you were doing, but weight loss that rapid is probably a bit of a shock to the system (still, fair play to ya!). Many people feel the compulsion to keep eating, or they feel the need to indulge in food for whatever reason. Unfortunately it's probably a bit of a vicious circle in that if you live on a poor diet, you become more lethargic and less active and perhaps feel the need to comfort eat. Or people eat because they're bored, as they're not active. Or make excuses to eat crap as they don't have the time to eat properly or sit down for even just 15 mins to have a descent meal.
But once you start yourself on a good regime of varied and nutritious food typical to what Mario has written, and not all this processed nonsense it gets the ball rolling as you do have more energy and you become more active. Therefore generally your probably happier and don't eat out of boredom or whatever.
Ones attitude towards their diet is so important. And it doesn't matter how fat you may feel, what you've eaten in the past is of no consequence now. If you want to be healthier and lose weight then use some common sense, start eating sensibly, drinking less alcohol, lots more water and get yourself into gear.
(I'm talking probably more towards the younger generation here Gups, I realise that the human body does change a lot as it ages and we have to adapt - I also totally agree with Mario's last comment, but I still believe a lot of the same principles apply.)
