I did this last year. We had a weight loss challenge in work, with a £50 prize. I stopped eating snacks, and counted weigh****chers points with my Girlfriend's help, to help keep tabs on what I was eating. I didn't work out, I just made what exercise I did a little harder. I bought some ankle weights from Tesco and wore them pretty much non-stop. I bought a weight vest to marshal in, which weighed just under 2 stone (believe me, coupled with the ankle weights that made for a hard days work. It was pretty much bulletproof tho :)) I rode my bike everywhere.

I lost over a stone, which was 10.4% of my body weight, and my waist went back 20 a 28". All without following any fad diet. Just eat sensibly and stay active.

Oh, I won the fifty quid too....

Well I'm 17 and so I don't think i can talk much about how your metabolism changes as you grow older (fingers crossed for later life) but from hanging around with my friends I'd say that in general men have a faster metabolism than women naturally, but they are more active, and being active raises your metabolism. (Exceptions are recognised though)

If men put on weight it is usually that their metabolism is catching up with them. But it’s pretty cool that men are realising you don’t have to be gay to diet!

So maybe when us woman twine that men don't put on weight like us we should try consistent exercise instead of rabbit food! This of course, will never happen for me. And skinny/muscly men that do nothing and eat loads are always definite targets!! ;) Bring on the lettuce! :D

Plus! Most skinny men look great, most fat men look great and most muscly guys look great. Unless it's a kind of 'Get the crow bar I want to get out of bed' or a skeleton kind of thing men can do no wrong really. As a lass I don't think I've ever looked at a bloke n noticed them being fat or thin. But I do notice it with women. This is probably not normal.

...I'll shut up now. *Prepares for serious 'stop talking' flaming*
…The first half made sense!

Well, i'm impressed with a few of you on here..you seem to care what you eat and how it makes you look/feel ;)

But i can't help wondering how many are reading this whilst reaching for the beer and Mccoys tho

I realise eating soup 5 times a day and nothing else isn't ideal but it's a fast-fix when other diets fail and it's not full of as much crap as you'd think:

1 can contains: water, carrots, potatoes, split peas, tomato puree, onions, haricot beans, pearl barley, lentils, parsnips, peas, modified cornflour (the only 'bad' ingredient) salt, garlic, yeast extract. No artificial colours flavours or preservatives. Pretty much as 'mum' used to make...

1 x 300g can of the Hearty Vegetable Broth provides
6g protein
25g carbs (of which 4.6g sugars)
Fat 0.7g (yippee)
Fibre 4g
KCal 127

The can is pi marked, tho i'm not sure about the ring pull, but as this clearly forms part of the Soup-Vessel-Assembly and is used for the filling and emptying of the vessel, maybe we should ask Tetra-PAC if it SHOULD be ;) ;)

I just remembered

I also started to eat plenty of fruit !!

I started eating fruit instead of choccy's and crisps when I wanted a snack and that also helped. It got to the point at work where they nicknamed me Fruitboy cos I was eating so many apples/oranges/melons/pears and kiwi fruit to name just a few. You forget how nice an orange or an apple tastes!! Much better than a topic or a mars bar!!

Make an effort, You wont be dissapointed

Oh! Have you changed since the last time we met, Cooks? :D

But i concede, Cooks doesn't need to diet... He has a lot going for him. He has a fully upgraded, tricked out Ego, but doesn't own a Planet gun... ;)

I'm too busy trying to put weight on :] I actually wish I had a lower metabolism, It's taken me about 6 months to put half a stone of meat on :( Its good meat tho :)
If some of you chubby guys stopped being lazy and got down the gym you'd have a body you can be proud of in no time, takes an age for chaps like me.

I realise people come in all shapes and sizes but age has a lot to do with it, when i was a Yoof i used to eat like a horse and couldn't put weight on if my life depended on it. Then i got into some serious alcohol consumption and my weight went thru the roof, but then i stopped drinking and the weight just fell off again.
Now i'm 40 and i eat sensibly and drink sensibly, but i'm not as active as i should be and my work and time does not allow me to become a lycra clad gym bunny......Euuurrrrggggghhhhhh:D :D
But the bottom line is that what i eat now sticks to me like super glue.
i'm still healthy, i ride a mountainbike 15-20 miles across country 3 times a week, and i play ball, but that is not enough for me to lose weight.
My sensible meals need to be reduced, my drinking must stop altogether, and i must drink pints of water, oh and hey if you could just assasinate me now and put me out of my bloody misery i'd appreciate it.
The bottom line is i'm a bit overweight or undertall but i'm HAPPY and comfortable with my size;) :)
