There you go, within a couple of hours, there's evidence of two customers the Millennium are turning away with this rule.

And I assume two teams that would prefer to be able to field these players and could be struggling because they cannot (not saying they are, just that they could be).

If teams struggle, they don't enter. Everyone looses out.

I agree that roster locks have their positive points, but this seems harsh, particular as no mention of this has actually officially been made by the Millennium Series apart from in private emails.

If you mean their first team and their reserve team? yeah, but they aren't playing in the same league/event/series.

It's no different to having a 22 player Premiership team and a identical 22 player reserve team, you can move players between them because they can co-exist and don't clash.

It's not true to say that applies when a team is in a different division of the same league as in paintball
But that is what a second team IS - reserves!

Why bother running a second team with up and coming talent, if you are not given the flexibility to move players up and down?

Well - stick with your team, throughout the season - and the problem will never arise.

The roster locks are in place to stop mercenaries and flighty individuals, from jumping teams from event to event - and to make paintball a real sport - IMHO.

I know it sucks that people have not been informed, and that being the case, the rule should not apply to those inconvenienced by it - but as a general rule, I am for the roster locks.

In a perfect world maybe Nick, but what about: players that were guests in Toulouse; players that get dropped from their team; players that cannot commit to the training a Div 1, or SPL team demands and wants to play a lower division or with a team that doesn't demand so much training; a player that looses his job temporarily; or a player that gets sick or injured; and so on.

Anyway, that's the rule by all accounts... would be nice to see the whole issue looked at in more detail. But in the meantime, we'll have to live with it eh?

You have PM

Back to the rule, i believe it is fair and works - HOWEVER the millennium series SHOULD let players know.
Begining of the season they should have a few announcements made, even if only on their site...just clearing up a few of the issues that ALWAYS occur.

The reffing issue - and the roster issues...

On the same topic - anyone have any ideas when the roster lock is for Div2, if there is one?

If this reserve/second team didn't play the MS it's a non issue, just as Man U's reserves don't play in the division below Man U, they play outside of the Premiership competition altogether. That's how football and all other sports (i can think of) works, second teams play in different competitions.

So if you really want the same thing in paintball, ban ALL sister teams, if you want two teams then one plays you home series (Nordic/Centurio etc) and the other the MS. Then you can "transfer" your players to your heart content and it'll be just like football, plus you get all the benefits of second teams.
