i have a reply from the millenium reference the swapping of players within div 1

as this is a millenium response i see it's fair to post it up here for the information of everyone.

I DO NOT KNOW IF THIS APPLIES TO OTHER DIVISIONS

Hi Alex

It's not good news I'm afraid!

As the rules state this season once a player is rostered for a team,
that is the only team they can play for this season.

Up until the 3rd event you can add players to your roster (as long as
you have roster slots free), but not anyone who has already played an
event this season.

If you were to disband, this would mean that you would not be able to
play for another team this year.

Sorry I don't have better news for you.

Kind Regards

Paula Nicol

I believe the roster cap for div 1 teams is 15 players.

That's one to take up with the IPPU surely? The Millennium are effectively making their customer's lives difficult by not allowing any player transfers - are we expected to just magic Div 1 players out of thin air if we have losses within a team. Last year, you could transfer players before the third event.

Well - it actually makes sense - and to me it helps teams that these roster locks are in place!

Previously, paintball players could just drift, create and disband teams - join and leave - as they saw fit.

NOW - you actually have to show some loyalty and stick with your team for the season.

I think it is a step in the right direction for our sport - and the same sort of rules are in place in other sports.

That having been said, I still think it is stupid, that a team with - say 20 players - that field 2 teams at MS events, is not allowed to move players freely between 1st and 2nd team throughout the season. - You can in every other sport, and you should be allowed to in paintball also.

At the start of the season - I have no way of knowing if player X has a drop in level mid season and should be relegated to the second team - or if kid Y performs like a superstar, and deserves to be moved up to the first team.

There SHOULD be benefits to running a big team organisation - just like in other sports.... otherwise - what is the point of doing it?

Huh?

Can't in football? Players are Cup tied to teams as soon as they play in a competition, you can't have partner teams in different divisions like paintball, so I don't see the correlation.

Whether I agree with the rule or not, it should have been made VERY clear that it was in effect at the start of the season, imagine if a player had guested to get a game in Toulouse then found out come Campaign or whatever that he couldn't play with his normal team for the rest of the year.

As long as it's applied across the board, it's equally unfair as it is fair, so I don't have any complaints, it's more the whole thing of people not knowing about it unless they ask, it's not published anywhere I could see.

Not true

A football club can move players up and down between their premiership team and second team all they want - throughout the season.

If they couldn't - a lot of their players would never get any game time.

The way you then make it unattractive to move down your best players (which some might fear happening), is you make sure second teams cannot be promoted (and that part is already in place in the MS).

- At least that is how it works in most of the world - but UK football may ofcourse be different?

If you mean their first team and their reserve team? yeah, but they aren't playing in the same league/event/series.

It's no different to having a 22 player Premiership team and a identical 22 player reserve team, you can move players between them because they can co-exist and don't clash.

It's not true to say that applies when a team is in a different division of the same league as in paintball
