Ion: What limits max R.O.F?

Hey Mr Hendrix,:D long time no speak.
I kinda guessed that was so but as you know, i'm used to the way a cocker works and don't know much about these new fangled korean sex aids:rolleyes:

I only changed over to the T-board as i shagged the stock board and the T was the cheapest "new" replacement, i ran it up in the garden earlier and fully auto sounded to be around 12bps but then i was manual feeding my halo as the batteries had gone:rolleyes: :p

Now obviously i haven't made any dwell adjustments etc etc but the main point to this was getting an understanding of what the mods are that are worth doing and actually make a difference.
Like Marcus states the stock Ion is capped at 17bps, but what limits the marker first when you let the electrics loose?

Still open for sexy video's to be linked and top mods that "ACTUALLY" make a difference. (so many people just seem to shop from an aftermarket parts catalogue without knowing what improvements are or are not being made)
Well...I woudl say that a QEV (with dwell set at around 20-25 from bottom) and a Firebolt would be a good start...or any of the Lucky offerings..stage 5 would be worth it, or just 1-3 if your not worried about a body.

What "because you can" irritate the **** out of everyone at a tournament or your neighbours in your back garden dry firing it?

Dood - a marker is a tool - its there to... urm, propell paint!!

And if it cant then its flawed
Whoa there fella, easy easy:confused:
Don't in anyway mistake me for a PBnation **** that is after a soooo radical marker that shoots ropes and is like kinda ballistic and like my mate bazza has got one that like cycles like at a squillion balls a second and is so fantastically amazing that i think i've just come in my panty's;) :D
actually i'm not this guy
i'm fully aware of a markers purpose but i'm also someone who likes to understand and improve things. speed is never my major concern but consistancy is! give me a totally consistant marker any day;)

What i'm trying to establish here is just what is possible "using paint"!
so often people make amazing and totally unsubstantiated claims about their equipment and a simple search on youtube proves that. The link above is absolute borrocks but the one below is believable:confused:
Ok there's no chrono and the gun spits a couple of balls but it was fast, no doubt.
i'd rather believe and have a gun that was capable of 15bps day in day out, than have an uber tuned pbnation machine that turns paint to soup and breaks every 3 seconds.
Irrespective of that i'm still trying to understand exactly what governs an Ion and what the "proven" best mods are, just for the simple reason "because i can"!:)

I've heard with completly stock internals apart from the board the ION can reach up to 22bps. A QEV will improve cycle time and efficiency but will increase the amount of pressure on the ball as the bolt travels back and forth faster. Basically with a QEV you are more likely to break a ball, but I think the pros out weigh the cons of a QEV.

Are we enter the "should we shouldn't we fit a QEV debate":p

Put one on mine last year and i didn't notice any difference, and i don't recall breaking a ball either...........apart from when using some of "our lukes special paint".....Doh!

I've heard that people suffer breakages and i was only reading recently that the respected figure of John C, doesn't like them either for that reason?

Appologies john if it was someone else:rolleyes: Senile dementia;)

new fangled korean sex aids:rolleyes:

i shagged the stock board
Dodgy post

Got a qev in mine, definitly inproves air usage imo, allowing the dwell to be dropped improved ROF to.

Finally used all lukes "sh!te" in my back garden without any breaks, snap shooting round a dog kennel was fun :D .

I use a T board in both My IONs, the use of a QEV is debateable as with a good bolt, the dwell can be set low enough to enable a ROF of about 24 BPS, the ION solenoid can really only handle this, the Lucky MAC noid can handle about 28, the lucky video where they claim to hit 32 BPS isnt 100% accurate, i think it was actually 25 BPS as some1 goldwaved it to that.

The ROF on a T board when set to like 54 is uncapped, so as fast as your hopper can feed, though the physical limitations of the ION prohibit really anyhting beyond 24. Thats why a lot of the companies, Virtue etc say 24 BPS. But even if you set your board to uncapped, if the dwell isnt low enough, the board will only be shoot the amount of balls that it can fire in 1 second based on your dwell. If your dwell is set to about 25, and you have a T board, you could hit 20BPS fine, though a new bolt/QEV would give a quicker recharge and allow for a lower dwell, sayt 15, then you could shoot 24 BPS+.

Though i wouldnt reconmend it.
