Good grief, so many of you complain about the current school system, I can see why. Many of you are totally ignorant when it comes to history.

So, let's get some facts straight. Yes, the British Empire used to be an empire on which the sun never set, but that's only because God does not trust you in the dark.
Seriously, the reason your empire crumbled is not because of some money hungry politician. If anything, they lost a lot of money. The fact is that imperialism at some point became quite passé, mostly because the people being ruled from afar kinda figured out that there were a lot more of them than there were of the people ruling them. You didn't grant independance to most of these countries from the kindness of your sould, rather you got kicked out, just as the Dutch were kicked out of Indonesia.

As far as Thatcher doing a good job of her one war, guess again. She didn't. Government meddling with the way the war should be handled resulted in a far higher casualty rate than what it would have been if the campaign had been run by military logics. Thatcher and co wanted some quick results, which resulted in a number of forced marches and a badly prepared assault. Only the discipline and training of your Royal Marines meant that they were able to win the day, despite some heavy casualties.
Had that maneuvre been conducted on a strictly military basis, the Falklands war would have lasted a few weeks longer, but many British lives would have been saved.

As far as bringing back heavier punishments doing the trick in reducing crime, get real. Look at the US, look at Russia. Both countries that have very severe penalties for pretty much every crime, but it's done them very little good.
A good start would be to actually enforce the rules that they laid down for society, kinda like paintball really. (look how I brought the thread somewhat back on track)

Now, back to our regularly scheduled programming.

@ Coldy: Thanks.

iam sorry but your foxhunting argument is not valied lived in the country and when all those stuck up morons in red churned up the village common and trampled some gardens i could have shot them myself

now shooting foxes got nothing against that if you could find a valid reason to kill them
foxes where imported from france by the stuck up land owners when they killed the english fox into extinction

saying that the last two names you mentioned both need a bullet to the back of the head
im a village person as well - grass can be replaced - and ok the dogs smell slightly - i followed hunts m8. and really they are not that stuck up. they are quite pleasent round my area.

anyway back to the thread. also what happend to holding doors for people, giving up your seat for the elderly. i had a door shut right in my face yesterday - i was right behind the bugger. my school is so scared of bullying that the moniter/prefect - whatever they are called are no longer allowed to hand out punishements incase they are accused of bullying.

Fox Hunting, isn't this where a bunch of toffs justify themselves by claiming they are doing it for 'altruistic' reasons such as helping the local farmers, or maybe even keeping the local pests under control?

And this is achieved how exactly?
Oh yeh, we all get dressed up like a bunch of toffee-nose colonels, sit atop a horse with a couple of score of other like minded fools, procure a pack of dogs, blow a few horns and then go ride toward some random location defined by a terrified fox running for its life, just to witness said fox being torn limb from limb !!!

I ain't no fox lover but then again, I don't like unnecessary suffering and I am pretty damned sure that if I got hold of a few friends of mine and dragged one of these *******s out of bed one Sunday morning, stripped him to his fat ass underpants and set him loose across some fields while we followed some pit bulls who wanted to rip his ass from his torso, I wonder how sympathetic he would then be to the fox's cause?

Unnecessary suffering ??????
There can be no excuse or justification!!!!

God - I hated that woman.

But what I hated more, were the weak, pathetic men who were around her and allowed her to flourish...
