Because there not up to shooting 10,000 in a day as an owner of one I know there OKish but there not up to the same standards as there big brothers the shockers,Egos,Angels,Eblades and they definatly are $h1t by comparision with the DMs there CHEAP FOR A REASON THERE PLASTIC were out quickly and thats why to a fellow player id recomend buying the best rater than waste money on somthing better
Ions are a intermedate gun not a true tourniment gun if they were then they would not be so cheap.Try to keep your ion running when you use it twice a week or more shooting 18,000 rounds through it I garentee it will brake! in less than a month with out massive upgrades!}

i know of sevaral teams and players that use them in all divs in the mill..
back up marker or not they are used and do the job..

at the end off the day it`s what you can afford.....

Excuse me, can I ask you a simple question. Did you ever get the privilege to see menace in action? Because I would like to mention that I saw one of the most amazing games ever seen played by anyone, let alone Professional teams, in Bitberg 05. Menace ripped teams apart with there ions last year, just ask teams like evil pigs, the fat ladies, tigers and backlash. All of which had trouble breaking though the sheer volume of paint the novice menace boys fired down the field with their standard order from their General Ada Collins “of seven guns up from the break”. It must have been a massing feat for them to finished 2nd in the same tournament and fourth at Campaign specially if they were all dead as you so bluntly put it.

Now Mr majic, to me replacing a 3 pound hose kit to stop a leak and a 25 pence o-ring to solve the ringing sound that you so un-intelligently referred to previously, isn’t that much of an issue to me. When I and most guys have had repair bills coming to 30 to more then 100 pounds in the past.

And I would also like to give you some advice one ion owner to another, if you don’t clean it at least once a month it will break just like any other gun, or even your car. Other products such as DMs require much more intense maintenance routines. I can assure you I train or play every week of the year, and I shoot up to 3 cases a tournament and more in training. So that’s at least 6000 "rounds" a week or 24000 paintballs a month. I, to this day have only ever change my bolt to the fire bolt since the day I bought it. So over the last six months that will now make a minimum score of 144,000 "rounds" to date without a problem. I would also like to ask the 150,000 other Ion owners how many problems they have, because if you see 1 or 2 have problems out of the thousands that are out there I personally think that would lead us to an amazing percentage.

Please if you are going to come on here and slate the reputation, and results of a team that I think most paintballer’s would say done the UK proud last year, please get you some facts about them first.

And i have achually seen oli use an Ion in Paris 05, he borrowed one of Menace's.

Ion usage

Ok guys I admit that the Ion is a hot seller but it still doesnt shoot 832000 rounds in a year does it?Also how many of the ion owners are using a standard Ion?if you read the post you would notice I said dont buy a standard Ion get one thats been upgraded and that the guy that started the post should try out markers to see what he likes.Rather than jumping on the band wagon and buying a marker that does not suit its perpose.

You can modifiy a mini as much as you like it still isnt a Ferrari!

By the way the coment about cockers was correct when firing high rates all guns wear out quicker especaly when based on a mecanical marker(AUTO COCKER) Ego did away with alot of the cockers springs and uses pnumatics instead so will last longer.No metal grinding up the internals or the frame.

People like you should read all the post and be aware other my well have more experence i have been playing and working in the industry for a long time! (Im old and like shinny things)

OK, what you say is "technically" true, but in reality there's nothing in it. The only "metal grinding" you'll get is if something falls apart because you didn't assemble it correctly.
Of course a gun firing at high rates is going to wear out quicker, firing 7bps in semi is obviously only half the wear rate of a gun ramping at 15.
This increased wear you speak of is just a hypothetical figure, i agree the Ego is a better and more current gun but prformance wise there is very little in it. They both shoot ropes at 15bps, just the cocker has more "old skool cool"
Ps, been ballin since 87, hence the retro trends but i too love the shiney stuff as after all i am a man whore for all things pimping

Ions rock, yeah fair enough you have to spend a bit of cash on em (trigger, feedneck etc) to get them to a spec suitable for everyday use... BUT

They have proven to a lot of people that paying £600+ on a marker is no longer neccesasry to complete at the top end. Yeah the mechanics can be a bit twitchy and the quality is not ideal...... but a 15bps rope from an ion is near to identical to a 15bps rope from an SL66 Ego. Anyone who disagrees with this fact is probably just a bitter spod who's upset that little jimmy with his ion lit you and your new shinyness up at the last tourney.

What makes the difference are mainly personal preferances and that was stated on the first page. Have a play and use what you prefer. But pulling the whole performance stuff doesn't really wash any more.

Ive been Ioned!

Well ive been playing this morning and had a rather fun morning the Ion I borrowed only conked out twice once due to paint smeging up the other due to the trigger getting shot off (its owner wasnt amused!Garry ill get you a metal one ok!) The DM was very nice but ow my god it hates the 3 paint types available to us at the time xball sliver,Toroball,some specaled stuff one of the guys brought the ego 06 sl66 loved it was like an A.D.H.D kid went down very well (might well get one of these myself was very good fun didnt have any problems) Angel A1 looks well naff in the dull silver but is one hell of a goer my bear claw hands are to big so I couldnt get along with its mini reg being so small had to hold it like a pool que then went very well.Garry used my angel was like a kid in a sweet shop.Then we Played the game of love with the Triton and the inferno where you stand 2 feet from the other guy or closer then knee cap him or shoot there shins was well fun! Last man standing went to paul when we played which was use up all the paint left over only a couple of boxes so between the 5 of us was well quick. Lasted about 3 mins of slaughtering one another took me up to 11:00 and time to go to work 6 welts from play proving the Ion is usefull 1 big lump on my knee proving the triton and infernos are EVIL. The Ego was the outright winner as the easyest to get along with second was the Angel G7 and last was joint between the Eblade the ION.No one let the parahna play as it woud not shoot under 300fps and moved up a massive 48fps over the limit when firing at minimum adjustment

p.s my knee hurts, Matt cant walk,Garry cant sit down,Scott has brain pain and Dawn nearly pissed herself laughing at fat Garry when he got shot in the ass (with his own Ion .)So was a good laugh
