Has it occured to anyone that maybe it is players nicking stuff from the players area? Not some Ninja clad robber who managed to get passed security?

You say on the one hand that they stopped you getting in when the wristbands were not valid and then you say that security was rubbish as gear got nicked...
Stopped us getting in one way, but once the pub was open, theyj ust let you through quite easily.

Jeff, if that were the case mate then perhaps we would have seen a similar robbery rate at Brum last year (which there wasn't) and at events held nationally over here in the last year, and once again there is no similar robbery rate there either.
Also no such robbery rate at other Millenniums.
Nah, I think this site is the problem in the area that it's in.
I dont agree Pete.

Every week there is an event in the UK and every week there are reports of missing gear. These events are not advertised/promoted to a huge audience.

DYE had stuff stolen from the booth. Gloves, Pads etc. All gear that players need/want. If I were joe blogs, I would try and steal something alot more saleable than a pair of slide shorts.

I am afraid that there are w**kers in all sports and paintball is no exception.

There were people complaining about goggles going missing from beside the fields and yet there are players saying that even with official MS wristbands they couldn't get to the fields as they were not playing till Saturday.

It would appear that the security was there and yet stuff still got stolen....

Jeff

**EDIT** I couldnt say about robbery reports at other Millenniums but I bet if you looked through the foreign forums after an event the story would be the same across the board.

I am suggesting they are responsible for the major part.
Precisely...maybe at the next venue the organiser should take into consideration the crime rate of the local area before hosting the event there, because of this years experience...
Like you said they are the major cause for the robberies...

But some paintballers find a peice of unnatended kit on the floor that they dont posess, half the time they dont think twice before picking it up.

Not saying majority of paintballers are people that take an oppurtunity to steal gear, im just saying a miniture fraction of paintballers would do that.

Oh I agree there will always thieving scumbags about, both within our sport and outside but I don't think there has been this scale of theft before and that's my point, it's the sheer number of robberies at Campaign that sets this one apart I think.
But anyway, this is pretty much academic because a tightened security would catch ballers as well as locals.

It would be nice to catch just one tho...just one .....hmmmmmm.....

Do you remember Tolouse a few years back when lots of cars got broken into?
Portugal - same story

Security is a problem Europe wide.
I agree that CP is a ****ty area and that the level of car break-ins was ridiculous but that can happen anywhere in this country and happens on a regular basis paintball or not.

My concern is that there are players out there who are stealing. Stealing from eachother, stealing from the traders and yet people still insist on blaming the locale of the tournament.

OK, I see where you are coming from in that you don't want us to misunderstand the problem we have within our sport already and I most certainly agree that we do have such a problem amongst us.

The only thing I would add is, if the problem were wholly within the domain of our own participants then we would experience similar robbery rates at each Millennium and we don't.
The differences are down to locale obviously and when you get major differences then this does tend to indicate that change is determined by its location.
The only other conclusion we can possibly draw is that us Brits are just a thieving bunch of ballers as well as the Frenchies and I don't believe that to be the case because we would see a lot of thefts nationwide, I know we get some but not at the levels we got at Campaign.
Anyway, a thief is a thief is a scumbag no matter what natoinality he is.

Agreed.
Robbery is also driven by stupidity.
We all know not to leave SatNav systems parked on the dashboard, kitbags on the seats, to walk to a car with a shiney new gun on show and then sling it on the back seat and then walk away with assumption that it will be OK.

We have to start taking some responsibility for the things that happen to us as paintballers and human beings.

The event wasn't the best for many reasons but you cannot heap all the blame on the MS.

This was my second MS event and I personally prefered the NEC over CP. I played in the M5 this time around and enjoyed the event on the whole, even didn't mind the sandy training pitch.

But what annoyed me was that is clearly states on the MS website that we would play a MINIMUM of 12 games, my team played 11 games and some other teams only played 10 games! I know people will say that it was because teams didn't turn up(Phantom Teams!) they could not ammend the rosters, well, yes they could have but didn't, after all it was them that stated the number of games we would play to lure us into playing.

Thanks to all the other teams we played.

Regards the thefts, if it is left unattended, it usually walks.......

Oh yeah, and we got screwed on our paint deal.....go figure:rolleyes:

Im telling you it needs to be at wolverhampton next year.

Darlaston Stadium ftw :D. Or even the wolves stadium, they probably wont need it after another failed promotion bid.

Or west park, people like west park, might need alot of fast security with machine guns though :D.
