Ive been to campaigne over the last 4 or 5 years and last years was the best ok this years trade area was better. As for spectaters last year you could watch all fields and i wanted to watch the Dye field on sunday and cos i didnt have a white wrist band i wasnt aloud so i missed the team i wanted to watch. On the note or the XL turf one end had XL and the other had Grass and when it rained one end was far slippery than the other that was the case on two fields and as for the filed with sand and nackard astro turf i had a brand new shirt and its got both elbows missing and last year my kit was as good as new and thats thanks to every field having XL turf.I just hope that its at NEC next year. But if it was perfect what would we have to moan at besides the weather;) .

Well I had an awesome time. Watched some quality ball. Got drunk. Car was ok, didn`t leave anything on show, hotel was quality, drinking was top notch.
Good event I thought.

Well this was my first Millenium event and i could see the issues that surrended the weekend.

Main issue for me was safety on and off the field, particularly the M5 fields which were on a flat but rather dirty all weather pitch. We were lucky to play the Saturday morning when it was not nearly as offensive as the afternoon (although we did fall victim to the bunkers blowing away)

Organisation was a complete bag of poo on the Sunday after the nightmares caused with the weather on Saturday, but I suppose that could have happened anywhere?

Second issue was security, inside and outside the main gates. Car park was a joke, we drove in looking at all the popped windows and were like "****, how many breakins!".
Inside the grounds the security based on the colour of your wristband etc was ok initially, but didn't let all M5 registered players into the players area on Friday which i found a little strange, maybe we could have got another band of sorts to allow this.
Other than checking the bands, security was lacks and stuff got nicked from inside the players staging areas and around the fields.

Also, a little bit of a cheek to say that all fields were XL turf when quite blatently they weren't.

CPL field was mint and so was the viewing area with a real good atmosphere, but a shame we couldn't watch other Div 1 teams like the Kellys do their thing if we didn't get in the players areas.

Trade stands were great, lots of bargains were had, great friendly advice, so plus point!

But overall it seemed to me that corners were cut bigstyle and i hope they make it all worthwhile next year.

Has it occured to anyone that maybe it is players nicking stuff from the players area? Not some Ninja clad robber who managed to get passed security?

You say on the one hand that they stopped you getting in when the wristbands were not valid and then you say that security was rubbish as gear got nicked...

As for "dirty" playing fields....

M5 viewing

What's all the moaning about poor viewing on the Chronic/M5 fields about?

If you bothered to walk round onto the elevated walkway along the side of the field the viewing from overhead was excellent, on Friday you could stand at the end, above the Bar! The netting collapse caused the organisers to colse the side gate and bar people from viewing from the end of the fields, understandably. This was where I chose to view the Chronic field on Friday from and the M5 games, plus to hear the coments from the public who stopped for a look was great. I think 4 lads were even trying to form a team for themselves and at one point I was chatting to the England Judo judges (or was it karate?) who had come out of the sports hall for a look! And you could get a reasonable view of the Dye field from there, though not ideal.

The worst field by far for viewing was the Tomahawk, even if you had fieldside access as the barrier was halfway down the field on the outside and the CPL compound was the other. As a poor fool trying to take pictures through the netting I struggled here (the field was very dark too!).

Really, the best UK event I have attended this year was Heavens Gate. 3 fields, in a sort of horseshoe, with the trade stands in the centre, bleachers for spectators for all fields. Even the thunderstorm was fun!

Jeff, if that were the case mate then perhaps we would have seen a similar robbery rate at Brum last year (which there wasn't) and at events held nationally over here in the last year, and once again there is no similar robbery rate there either.
Also no such robbery rate at other Millenniums.
Nah, I think this site is the problem in the area that it's in.

To be fair Robbo, I think that there has been an increasing number of thefts at events this year than last year. At the last NSPL event I played something like 8 guns went missing... Now I think in this situation its almost certain that its players stealing from players. A field in the outskirts of a reading suburb is hardly Croydon, and its not a high profile event attracting spectators who become opportunist thieves.

Perhaps Jeff has a point...

A pair of proflex's and dye i3 goggles (belong to the squeegee boys) were stolen from the CPL area. Who would suspect that? No spectators could get down there at all or lower div players (unless they were playing on that feild)

So it just go's to show that not all of the theft was from spectators and local mugs.

Magic, trust me, the major part of that theft is down to locale.
I am not for one second suggesting the locals are entirely blame, I am suggesting they are responsible for the major part.
