Duh'...the Vanilla Ice Men. Though after Vegas, you could certainly argue they are indeed trying to make 7-man more like X-ball...

Teflon has pretty much nailed it as to why Xball is an exclusive format. It's hard enough for teams to keep 7-man squads regulary trained and motivated in standard tournaments, let alone the stamina-sapping, box-chucking, matrix-style wire work needed to play Xball. I have total respect for all the teams that played during the format. Much love to Mr Pink, Kyle and Jamie B. You guys are atheletes of the highest calibre. Nonetheless there is a huge contingent of lesser-known players who paid and played out of their skins and into their overdrafts. Players who don't have the Bruce Lee physique or fiscal backing of a mysterious millionaire benefactor. These players have seen you play, enjoyed your games and now want a piece of the magic. Nobody expects to walk straight into a game against the Legion but what the 7-man fraternity want, I believe, is something close. We've been told repeatedly on this thread why we can't play Xball, what we want to know is what can we do instead. What can we do to breathe life into the 7-man game.
I would like to see the time limit on 7-man left alone. There would be one flag in the center (it's been done before Xball, so you can't sue me) and crowd participation would be enabled. The central flag would make a spectator-friendly single point of focus (well, sort of) and would encourage aggressive breakouts. The time limit would still give seven-man teams time to work their magic and the crowd involvement speaks for itself.

That would work, if teams gave a rats about the flag in 7man...or XBall for that matter. The flag is an after-thought, and even if there was a single flag in the centre, it is doubtful that teams would even bother before every member of the opposing team has been eliminated.
I wouldn't say all of the guys who play XBall at its many levels (div 1-3 PSP, NXL, EXL, Open) were athletes with high levels of fitness..... It's not a necessity but just like 7man, as teams are picking up the fit 17 year old bunker monkeys, if you want to win then you've gotta match them.
