Nope - thats why nearly every line in my post was a question not a statement! ;)

I was merely reflecting upon various things I have read and heard over the last couple of months hoping for a little more detail...

:)

I believe 7 man would be improved by allowing coaching but there are a lot of other aspects to take into account.
The coaching aspect would help avoid the current situation in & man where you end up with two teams sat behind bunkers and seeing how much paint they can shoot for 5 mins:eek:
this is only half the job as the coach can only communicate with a few players on the current 5 man field so a 7 man would be all but impossible.
The problem with our sport currently is that there are a lot of people looking on x ball with envy instead of enjoying the spectacle that it is.
I like the fact that some of the best teams are currently playing x ball and that there is a significant difference between this and 7 man,

How about a ******* version of xball for 7man?

10 - 15 min timer, as many flag hangs as u can get, 1 point per flag and screw the dead/live player thing. Allow coaching and spectator participation.

Would speed 7 man right up, be fast and furious, easy to understand for non ballers and possibly a right laugh :)

That's not "a ******* version of xball", that's X-ball. 7-man teams instead of 5, but the basic X-ball rules don't specify numbers of players, it's just that 5-man is the format that is generally played.

yeah lets sit tight and wait to negotiate sponsorship again! oh you said NPPL well a format will probably be released after world cup instead of this years after New Year!

i thought the new format was only for Elite 18 qualifiers?

But Glen, that seems to be the Brit paintballers way.....do nothing at the time, and moan like crazy afterwards:D

Personally i do not think that many of the players participating in this thread actually know how expensive Xball really is. The training is a large part of the cost factor. In order to play at a certain level you really need to have a proper Xball field. They are hugely expensive. A USED Xball field in the PSP after the event sells fopr $5500! and thats not even new./ It is a 30% discount because the field is dirty. New fields are even dearer than that!

Training wise to give you all an idea, we have trained nothing but Xball all year, every single time we have trained we have shot 40 boxes of paint in a weekend. We were untill Campaign training every other weekend. 80 boxes of paint a month from January to August is 640 boxes JUST IN TRAINING! Factor in the paint used at each event and the fact that our team by the end of the season will have played 4 NPPL, 4 MS Xball events, and 3 MS 7man events which is 11 events in total not including several Dartford 7 events as well and you are looking at an huge paint consumption! How many teams can actually take that kind of hit in a season? If there are more than 2 teams in the UK that can actually do that then i would be hgely suprised!

Xbal is too expensive for the majority of teams in the UK, and team rosters are not large enough to sustain playing Xball matches anyway. We had untill campaing a roster of 18 players, Nexus have the best part of 15 odd players, Tigers something similar as well. There are not enough players in the UK for widespread Xball to take hold.
