lest anyone have illusions about this not being 'wwf of paintball' - Milt asked for a license of the G-D format for 3 man back in 2001, with the specific goal of making it a spectacle 'like professional wrestling'.
Duke Hillinger's strategy for adrenaline tv (his old show) is mix good looking babes in very little clothing with 'some kind of action sport' and then sell the heck out of posters and calendars.
I believe that after the WWF approached me about using the G-D format, they approached Milt - or maybe it was the other way around.
My answer to WWF was "As long as you commit to doing a serious sport, we're on board. If its going to be a clown show, we're not interested". How's THAT for cutting off your nose to spite your face? (Needless to say, there were no further discussions.)
My answer to Milt was "I want the larger team format to get established first, then, sure, no problem."
I applaud what they've managed to accomplish. I remain completely skeptical that such a small, short time-frame format will manage to transmit anything meaningfull to a non-paintball audience. The only place where it might find roots is if they manage to give 'personalities' to the teams.
Much as I wish anyone success with whatever they've chosen to dump hundreds of thousands of dollars into, I predict one season and then out.
