Heh...looks like the NPPL Silly Season will be sillier than usual this year. I for one will look forward to hearing the 'why' of the whole thing. I have a sinking feeling that a major effort will be made to sweep the whole thing under the rug and try and move on like it never happened....whether or not that happens will depend on the real story and it's implications for the NPPL/PSP, I suppose.

Well why not just sweep it under the rug?

It's really not all that interesting. Player did something stupid. Player and team severely penalized.

What more should there be? A committee meeting to decide if we should put security in any wooded areas near the fields to prevent a recurrance? Force Rosie to put up an extra mile or two of netting every event?

Point taken, but I suspect (just a gut feeling) that this whole disaster goes deeper than one player (or a small group of players) on one pro team giving the finger to another pro team or the league in general. That's why I threw the caveat in on how much the general paintball community would find out...

I dunno...I'm not known as a fan of the NPPL/PSP or a majority of their players...nothing personal really, just never took an interest in the whole thing. What else is there to do? Increasing security or adding more netting would take care of the symptoms, but not the underlying causes of the whole thing. I just have a VERY strong feeling that this is an expression of rage with a deeper root than just a player who chose to express it in the woods in a black t-shirt.

I don't know any more than anybody else does, and I refuse to speculate on the possible motivations...all I'm saying is that I'd like to see how the situation develops. If nothing else it'll make for interesting conversation here and elsewhere this winter!

I'm willing to wait for another word...

...but until I hear Salm's version, without PC editing, I'm sticking to what the evidence points to, IMHO. And that is that Salm was not acting alone.

Look, if you're doing something as against the rules as being the 11th man in the woods, you are going to have to know that youre actions are going to cause long term problems. Salm would hve known this going in, no matter how 'blinded' he was by rage. Sorry, I don't see it being a spontanious thing, or a lone thing.

As for the other rumors (Av giving the finger to the NPPL) I don't know what to make of that. That will play itself out in the next few months, and everyone in the universe will see it for what it is. 'Till then, I'm not even going there.

But, I'm willing to wait for more evidence, either way. But, until then, my opinions stand in my mind. If the tournament scene wants to ignore it, or wants to shuffle it under the rug never to be seen again, then you have nobody but yoursleves to blame for not having major sponsors take paintball seriously.

"If you're not outraged you're not paying attention" was a sticker I had on my hopper once. I may have ot go get it again.

The problem is...

..that it makes our sport laughable and unprofessional. Imagine what VANS will say when they will hear this, and they are a HUGE company finally just getting into paintball.

Imagine what outsider ppl looking on the sidelines say!

I have no doubt there were ppl from non pb companies looking into paintball as a new opportunity what do they see? One of the TOP teams trying something THIS low...

Salm didnt screwed Avalanche only, he screwed our sport too.

Just to put the record straight as far as what I think.
I do not believe Salm acted alone but I do believe Ed was unaware.
As to how many knew is open to specualtion and I doubt we will ever know the full extent so conjecture is pointless and only serves those determined to malign the pros.

You must remember that at times like this, all the dickheads are gonna crawl out the woodwork with differing agendas but all with the common attribute of none of them knowing the full facts.
I am not saying I know the full facts but I was there when it happened and I have talked to nearly everyone on the Avalanche squad including an extended conversation with Ed.
I would respectfully suggest that none of the people, especially Tyger has had the same degree of first hand information.
All his information is indirect and probably third or fourth hand at best...and we all know about chinese whispers.
Always look for agendas when sifting thru these type posts and especially thread initiators.
Thankfully most people just wanna know the facts and are genuinely interested and motivated but others....well, you lot know how that one goes !

About the chinese whisper, you're right.. ..but there are reports on the net and ppl can deduct what happened from putting a+b together. Wheter its right or wrong thats an entirely different question!

What do you think why Salm did it? Thats the more pressing issue !!

Good to see you around(ish) again, big fella.

Personally I'm still not convinced that others were involved, but that's just my view based on the things I heard.
I just hope that something like this doesn't spell the end of Avalanche. Despite the fact that the last few seasons were not as good for them as previous ones, they are one of the few teams that everybody knows. They are the only team with the sort of image and merchandising that they have. They are one of the very few truly marketable teams. It'd be a sad day if we'd loose that.

Man, this is blowing up

Public Enemy has just released tha Salm remix of Bring tha Noise...

Salm! How low can you go?
Death row. What a brother knows.
Once again, back is the incredible
the paint animal
the incredible, Paintball Enemy Number One
GZ said, "Freeze!" and he got numb
Can Salm tell 'em that he really never had a gun?
He was just crawling in the woods, having rec-fun,
Now they got him in a cell 'cause his Matrix worked swell, they sell
'Cause a brother like Cookston said, "Well...
...Poorman's your captain and I think you ought to listen to
what he can say to you, what you ought to do."
Own up for for now, power of the PSP, say,
"It's a miracle, Salm's hysterical"
Black is back, all in, Lanche never win
Check it out, yeah y'all, here we go again

I thank you...
