the reason i say it takes skill is that its something that a player has to learn to do. its not a screw they can turn or a board they can program.

Like i said before to win today, you have to cheat. Sure its sad but thats the way it is.

morals and ethics - bah, who needs them :)
Hey, at least you're being consistent. :) And I see your point about skills versus holding in your trigger or whatever.

But you and many many in the wide world of sports are decadent and will go to hell. :D

;) you aint a nerd dude, your standing your ground on the cheating thing :) that makes you cool. :) and to be honest i gotta respect that. in fact i respect anyone who takes a stance against it.

At the moment however i can get away with it, with no real consequences, apart from a verbal thrashing from mon capitan as he dont agree with it.

another point to raise is this.

do teams only have certain teams that they cheat against or is it a blanket thing. For me its only teams that we have 'grudges' (for want of a better word) who i may do it against. when i say grudges i dont mean it in a sense of bad blood - more i know they idd it last time we played and they are gonna do it this time so i might do it.

I think the answer is yes according to many conversations I've had. It's kinda like this (and I think this is what you're experiencing): "You know those mofos are going to wipe ever' chance they get so do what ya gotta do." Right? This has been going on for so many years now and has escalated so much, despite improvements in the quality of reffing, that it is becoming more and more second nature for many serious players. I mean if you learn to do something (a skill as you say) and it is effective then why not effectivize it more by practicing? You know, learning to never flench or move for certain kinds of hits or shifting to the other side of the prop for others. Learning to rub your hopper and whatever else against paint on the props, etc. etc.

And the escalation is very real. I have some mates who expressed frustration and embarrasment over their teammates' cheating just a couple of year ago but have now admitted that they've been forced to join them.

I think the key point in your post is "no real consequences". When the reffing steps up and faces these challenges with increased competence and when the rules have been modified so that crazy-azz run-throughs aren't rewarded with winning then maybe even you and even harder-nosed cheaters will go back to playing the real game I described earlier.

I hope I'm not naive in that hope.

Wiping is 100% CHEATING! in my view.

Now its even worse when you train against another team and they wipe in training!!

Now then, if youve been shot on the break and you come diving onto the ground and the shot magically disapperaing? is that stil cheating or not?

Of course it is, but who's gonna know? and who's gonna actually honestly get up after they've been hit on the break (and consequently dived and wiped) and say "Marshall, can you check me, I've been hit but you won't be able to see it because it's not there any more. But I am out, honestly, I don't even know why I called you over - I shouldn't have wasted your time". Then they walk to the deadbox having not even fired off one shot?

Cheating's a skill

I practice it as much as i snap shoot

Sliding shots off is my speciality... if you're playing Euro 5 Man i will demonstrate gladly.

wiping is hella cheating

well for my my piece!

i think wiping ruins the game! for a dude pretty new to the tourney scene i think it disheartens me when you see a player that you have gogged and they wipe it off! same when you get hit!

i think if you get hit take it! obviously that player has the skill to hit you! personally i dont wipe but i absolutely hate it when you know you have lit some one up and they just wipe it off!

flame away!

dont get me wrong i cant stand it when i see people im playing agaisnt wipe...... but if they're doing it to you how you gonna compete??? wipe, over shoot em, train harder the list goes on

its a part of the game that originaly wasnt (like ramping) but its now here and looks like it always will be..... if you dont like it just hope the next time you see it they get 3/1 and your team gains the advantage
