Now at the end of the season of the Millennium Series, i think it is interesting which Noviceteams are going Amateur and which Amateurteams are going Professional now...

As a rule, i think the top 2 or 3 placed for the series overall should automatically be made to move up a level, as to place high over the whole series is a very good indicator of consistent quality. However, I don't think that teams that won or did well in just one round should particularly have to move, as we all get flukey weekends.

Of course the other question needs to be asked as well - who should/shouldn't move DOWN a level?

I agree with Liz on this issue, although I think the top 5 from each level should move up, as they have usually played all of the events and are consistant. Once teams move up, its usually a one way move and I don't know of many teams who have dropped down a level after moving up. I know Hellwood is one, but not sure after that.

To go back on topic, I definatley think there should be some form of enforced promotion/relegation going on - I think the only problems that relegation would cause is sponsors being unhappy about their chosen team being percieved as slightly pants :D

Obviously there would have to be something done to cover the "but we only played one leg, you can't relegate us" syndrome.

How about, from the six event, you need to play 4 to be ranked in the "league tables". However, as some teams may only be able to make the four events, the best four results are used from the season, those teams that play all six legs effectively "drop" their worst positions. This would get people trying to play more events too, to cover their backsides for when they have a bad tourney.

In case of a draw, the total points scored in the four events can be used - my thinking on this:
If it took 600 points at event 1 to come 4th, and 800 at event 2, event two must have had play of a higher quality, so the team with more points gets the promotion.

But anyways, who needs a proper league structure - I mean, I can't think of a single "recognised sport" which uses leagues ;) :D

aren't the Tunnel rats mostly ex Gravediggers players who were AM?

Glorykid: aren't Evil Pigs only Novice? so saying they should be Pro seems a bit harsh! i'm guessing you meant they should be Am.

also neither Escarmouche or Kellys have ever won a millenium event at novice so why should they move up? saying they should because they are consistently making the semi's means that Shockwave 3 should also be made to play Am.
