Their only reason is they want to is to get the team to "gel" before next season. If this is the case they can just as easily acheive this by playing in Am A, without upsetting everyone in the process.

3--Fair enough, as long as they aren't being forced to change. I can think of a number of practical reasons for them to play Am B.
And it isn't "them" upsetting everyone. It's the perception of inequity in the system that is disturbing some. And forcing one team to move (which you haven't done--good for you) doesn't solve the core issue. I say, perception, cus there is no real inequity as long as everyone competing is competing in a division they are, by rule, allowed to play. There may be an inequity of ability but that's kind'a why the games are played, isn't it?
