You're probably all dying to know what I eat before a game. Well, the night before I'll be sure to something that has pasta, spinach, black olives, and tomatoes in it. Not necessarily because that's what is healthy, it just so happens to be, but because stuff that I eat all the time usually involves pasta, fresh veggies, and some good leafy green. As for the meat, something nice and grilled or roasted like chicken tikka, shish kebobs, charbroiled steak, or if I really figure I really want it, a nice steak povoire.
Steak povoire, for those of you uninitiated with Cajun type cuisine, is a steak marinated with a couple splashes of lite soy sauce or Worcestershire, dusted with Creole seasoning, brushed thickly with spicy stone ground mustard, then dusted again on top of that with more Creole seasoning, then seared in a cast iron skillet on the stove then covered and put in the oven or cooked covered on the stove with lemon juice and dark rum added (for either stove or oven) for about 20 minutes or till a nice medium or medium rare, then served on top of noodles or wild rice topped with either bacon bits, sauteed mushrooms, or my personal favorite, crabmeat and sauteed onions.
It's not really unhealthy, but more to the point it's as much or more important to enjoy what you eat and eat the best that you can. To me that's what's important about getting good food before a paintball game: something that's not so fatty that it'll slow ya down or give ya stomach problems, but something tasty and filling the night before so you go to sleep well and are in a pleasant but clear state of mind so that you can focus on your job. Some people trash their guts and their tastebuds all their lives and although it's the best food they know and they're happy with it, they really don't experience food for what it really can be. That to me is a crime that I find my life worth devoting at least some of it towards preventing.
