Since I was told yesterday by my doctor I can't fly to Denver till my back heals up, I thought I would start a thread in my depressive state :(

With the EXL teetering on the precipice of survival come 2005 unless something substantial turns up, it beggars the question, what the hell do the Euro Pro teams who did not make the NPPL cut do now?

If there is no EXL for 2005 and with presumably Joy, Nexus, Ton Tons and hopefully Shockwave (if we all get enough points) all playing NPPL, where does that leave the rest of Euro Pros?

I mean, does anybody care, is it the death knell or can business carry on near normal playing Millenniums, after all, isn't that what most of them did anyway?

Suggestions? ........answers?......... opinions?

Is "going back" to 7-man so unthinkable or bad?
I think that everybody agrees that the focus is now on X-ball but if X-ball is turning out bad in several ways (or so it seems) will the 7-man be considered the poor parent for ever?
From what I read on foruns, magazins or ear in discussions X-Ball is too expensive for most of the teams unless you really get a very good sponsorship deal. But maybe it is the way to grow our sport even further before giving the jump to X-ball or similar formats... maybe Xball just came ahead of time and in a few years will be the format of future paintball for everybody, and not just for a few selected or lucky teams

just my 2 cents

The EXL has precipitated a 2 tier Pro division in Europe this year.

If the EXL fails those teams that were forward thinking (or had the resources) to get NPPL qualification will be off playing in the best league in the world.

The rest?? They'll be in the second tier playing Millenniums and the odd US team that comes over. There will be no way they can go and play NPPL because of the rules and will be limited to the Millennium circuit.

The teams that paid this year to qualify will reap the benefits. With only 18 teams it will be hard to qualify - lets hope the sides that put the effort in get the rewards.

As for X-Ball, and in particular EXL, what sort of league will be left anyway? Russians off to NXL and others playing NPPL to ensure qualification for 06. There will have to be ca$h money in it for the teams I think to ensure the EXL's survival.

Interesting times (mind you in the last 2 years it has been constantly 'interesting times')

Maybe a new format for the pros?

Nppl talked about it last year as the Millenium did with the superlegue. I think it will be easier done now with the Pro division locked in the states.

As for Joy we plan to play Nppl and Millennium 7-man next year, it have been a waste of time and money and possibly a place in the NPPL pro division for us to play EXL.

................another one bites the dust

Joy spell out their position - EXL has been a waste of time and money!!

So assuming that RL are out and now Joy are out for sure then (no offence to the rest) thats the 2 big boys out of EXL.

The writing may already be on the wall.

I'm not in the know, but I'm sure Nexus would rather be giving it large with the biggest and best next year and not using valuable resources on a dwindling Euro premier event? Unless of course (and this is THE big caveat) EXL comes up with the spondulicks

Robbo care to comment??
