Cash money, big business, big time ballin
X ball simply rocks. Its hard work and creates more focused individual players as the more you play the more you learn about your own game and you have more chances to correct your mistakes or evolve new trickniques. i've found myself learning not so much new skills but how to enhance the ones I have and use them to greater affect, confidence being one of the biggest areas. Having a super elite league is great for the players as we all feel that little more special and raise our game for the company we are with and for those who expect to see some special ****.
Problem is that, as Nick said earlier, the teams are prettty much run by the players so all the other headaches of sponsorship, money, gear...etc are taken on by the players and when you add this to trying to evolve your game and other individual aspects it can be quite a stressful load, especially with the focus needed for the great X game. To make the whole EXL work it needs to happen just like in the states, with big companies owning teams and running them, this would make it a ton easier for players to concentrate on being better players. Ok, it may get a bit cut-throat when new talent shines but as is life. As it is, we don't have this kind of power in Europe which kinda makes the EXL a doomed prospect from day 1. Can anyone name BIG paintball companies based in Europe that can financially back a team? Adrenaline? Planet Eclipse?...erm...
I for one have loved the EXL and am glad it happened, from a self improvement angle. If it wasn't for the teams and players putting the amount of effort into putting on a show then it wouldn't have been worth it to be honest. The rest of the series up to now has kinda been a bit flat and from what I've seen it has affected the credibility and quality of the 7man events running at the same venues.
I agree with Robbo on the fact that to get anywhere successfully with the X factor then we just need to follow suit. Unless it crumbles. Which it could. Pity.
