A while back i heard that the UKPSF had been in discussions with Sport England regarding the classification of Paintball as a SPORT in the U.K. Apparently They were going to make public their decision in March................ Hang on................. IT IS MARCH!!

So, Big cheeses from the UKPSF, do you know whats going on? Have they come close to a decision or are we gonna have to wait a while for the RIGHT answer?

Sorry for the use of CAPITALS, im jus getting a bit excited about all this...

Hey Tom, AFAIK (and I'm sure Hotpoint is just waiting to jump in on this thread as soon as he gets to work in the morning) ;)

The Sport England people are looking to keep themselves employed, and as such, are stalling and stalling, and stalling.

Should be pretty soon though, I hope.......

Catch ya l8r (and you still owe me a tenner  )

Well I've never been called a "Big-Cheese" before but here is the state of play at the moment as regards the UKPSF and UKSport

Long story short (apologies for 3rd person narrative):

July 1999 - UKPSF starts campaigning to Sport Enlgand to get Paintball recognised as a sport. Bully gives Hotpoint job of doing so.

January 2001 after finally getting to the stage where they take us half-way seriously UKPSF formally applies for Recognition. Answer expected April 2001

January-April 2001 - Hotpoint waits patiently

April-September 2001 - Sport England/UKSport stalls. Hotpoint writes many, many letters and is told that meeting of "Sports Councils Steering Group on Recognition". Which issues recomendation to UKSport will take place in October

October 2001 - Planned meetring of "Steering Group"

November 2001 - Hotpoint asks what the result of the meeting was. Told it didn't take place. Hotpoint goes ape**** & demands to know when it will... told "4th December"

4th December 2001 - Meeting of the "Steering Group" finally takes place

31st January 2002 - Hotpoint rings Sport England to find out what's going on. Told "Sorry but the minutes of the meeting haven't been typed up yet". Hotpoint unimpressed

February 2002 - Hotpoint goes above heads of Sport England & talks to UKSport. Told formal meeting of full Sports Councils will vote on recognition in March 2002

13th March 2002 - Hotpoint still waiting to hear. Will let you know final result when he does

Hotpoints opinion of UKSport/Sport England very low

You missed out:

January 2001, Flash spends a day proof-reading probably the most comprehensive application that Sport England ever have, or will, receive.

I think the main reason for the delay is that they're still reading the application. :p
