LOL - sorry Mark. I was being flippant (yes - for a change :p).

Training against Pro/Div 1's is a good idea - and I know you can be cannon fodder down at the NQ against Kelly's ;).

As for 'other' types of training - the UKM/PA/SWPL etc have that all sewn up - in the form of existing tourney's.

UKM/PA/SWPL etc = Training, I would be training somewhere else so when I do get to these events, I'm ready/train to try to WIN them not just use them as training...:D but like you said some people have to use them to train as money is a issue...

But as far as turn up on your own, pay your £25 and put ur name in a hat, once 20+ names are in all mixture of people pro's novices whoever the teams get pick out and then start the tourney...JUST GOOD FUN!!

But paint prices .. thats something else...no money made in paint...maybe £1 - £2.50 per box...but then you got to transport that paint and store it, which costs. so people would be lucky to make anything really, its just sold as a service not as a money spinner, different story if it was a punter site £90+ PER 2000
A few weeks ago I played at a Delta Force site (don't rip into me for that) , and I was charged £125 for a box of 2,500 paintballs. And they weren't even quality ones (Fuego's) - they were bouncing most of the time! I know that for the same money I could have bought about 6000 or so Draxxus paintballs.

Back on topic, I try and aim for a win, even though I know I'm playing for fun.

Hi Bob,

Thats all anyone can do is try and play they best, you cant ask anymore than that.. but you do take our training seriously when you do get out there!!!

Have you got a local Sup'Air training site near you ?...or do you have to travel a fair distance? If so how far is it?
Nearest outdoor setup is with the Clan (few hours south), there is a training (or get shot lots by their CC team:) ) day on the 27th there should be a few of us along to that, so as usual big thanks to the Clan as we'd be high an dry without it.

We also have our own reballing localy but there are sod all people to play atm in aberdeen.

Clan run training days(Well dskize cos he's really touchy about this ;) ) and we charge £10 walk on which includes air and £20 per box of paint to Clan players and £25 for walk on players. We also run walk on day(Again THANKS DSKIZE) for new players to try it out, play games, little bit of coaching but more the fun aspect, this is at the same price as above.x
On a side note was abit pissed when i read a thread the other day where a guy was complaining that he didn't have a supair field near him and he lives 20 miles from D7!!!!!

Lol, cheers Dskize then! You can blame it on him;)

And heres the guy moaning about no sites near enough to him.

why can't they like ... move to south london and set up a field there!!! :(
wow, thats big typing. I know there are 2 indoor fields at the london paintball centre near the isle of dogs, there are 2 at SC in ashford, and i know about D7s - the only one i could probably get to is SC to be honest, d7s is an epic hike, lpbcentre is the train and tube, so that's like almost an hour. Campaign's got one, it's just kinda deftlated... well it always seems to be very deflated.
Edit oh and btw he says he lives in surry a huge 20 miles away.

Trouble is - training costs money (paint, green fees, travel etc) so not many peeps bother (you can easily spend £50 very quickly). Most people would rather pay that money towards a tournament - and treat that as training.
Sorry to drag this post back from the dead but surely this is the problem paintball has, people would much rather turn up and play a event, which is 8 games or whatever and say that is training for a bigger event. You dont learn a huge amount from playing 8 games but it is more interesting than running drill after drill week after week, but this is what really improves your game. If you go to any training site you will notice the regular players that are there day in day out, yes they are usually the pros who have the support to be able to do this but the reason they are playing pro is because they put the time and money in.

People who just turn up once a month a play an event cant realy say there in it to get to the highest level they can or that they are pushing themselves as hard as they can to win because they have chosen use the money for an event instead of a training day, yes they could cost the same amount but one is more productive then the other.

So the choice comes down to what you see as value for money.
The fun of playing an event
Or using the time to better your game and maybe winning the event

(i started typing with a point in mind but forgot it half way through, sorry for wasting your time ;) )

I think your mistaken Pete. I think you'll find those who can't be bothered spend ALL there time on this site...
..well it would be nice to think so if only because reading some of this stuff might shame them into doing something but I somehow doubt that too...we live in hope.
