I'd be happy to be registered as owning a marker, I'd also be happy to have an ID card.
Whether or not I should have to is a different matter, off the top of my head I can't think of any negative repercussions of doing so.

Back to gun control

The UK Govt has been super-keen to force U-17/18s to have licenses for airguns for some time now, but I kinda think pball may slip through the loop cos it's so small over there. And, like tha rest of y'all, I don't think it's tha end of the world if they do have to have licenses - the only people it'll stop buying paintguns or those who want something to shoot squirrels and roadsigns with.

Tha real worry is if someone does what they've done to replicas in tha UK - i.e. converts a pball marker to fire shotgun shells or something. Then you're screwed.

Doh! didn't read that right.

What we have to remember is at the end of the day gun laws are ther to protect us. and if it takes licencing markers to make it safer Im all for it. Although we still need to reinforce the fact that it is not a gun sport to the public.

Exactly - I think the UKPSF were looking at a system of marker registration but got stumped by cost/work involved seeing as it's run on a voluntary basis I believe.

If we can at least show that we're prepared to make constructive approaches to self-regulation then the govt is far more likely to take us seriously.

Another advantage of registering as paintballers, and possible even our markers is that it would be possible to track ownership of a marker with the serial numbers.
So you could avoid purchasing stolen stuff. and the like.

It might be an idea to do it voluntarily before some official MAKES us do it.
Only problem is, which poor sod is going to do all the paperwork?

Register my marker?

Bugger,

Ghetto was going to be sooooo "in" for 2003, now I've gotta take the elastic bands of the grips and un-file the serial numbers on the Bling Bling Ir3.

Seriously though, most of the touney playerz have got millenium cards, UKPSF membership etc, wht not just add Marker and Serial number to the registration details? We've all gotta renew em this year anyway. The government loves voluntary / self regulation (just check out banking and the attitudes of the FSA, SEC etc etc), this would be a good step in the right direction. Ok small start from the millenium series, but there was a bout a gazillion people at Campaign last year, with plenty of helpers two extra pieces of player data would'nt be too much of an overhead. Hopefully this will filter through to all series and events.

Perhpas we should ban Tippmann a5's as well....... just as a gesture.......;) ;) ;) :D :D
