Ding Ding....

Round 2.

The North, Mr.B, is a little place slap bang in the middle of 'Where it's at'. :D

Mark T: You is daaam right baby. We been breaking our game down into respective elements and concentrating on them one at a time, we've been lacking thought and control for a while now so we've slowed our game down a bit, but our next step is to mix our crazy ass style of play that we all know and love with our new found control. Ok, poor excuse but it's true, honest, just wait chief you'll fall in love with us again very soon.

Imperial should replace Tigers in the top 5 I reckon.

Al-star!
Looking forward to seeing the machine in full flow again! But i gotta say that i don't think the tigers could be knocked out of the UK top 5 - they are firmly in there!
See you at the Angel Cup????

Not blowing a trumpet here but i agree with you mark, to many teams are taking the easy option, thats one thing Redz have never done.
If you mix it with the best then only your game can improve, whether you get spanked, draw or knocked into next year, its all experiance.

I'm gonna nurse me welts now:)

Theres plenty of talent out there - lets test it!!

Mark
Well I didn't want to promote my team, but since Mark said there was not too much else around, I figured I would jump in. As most of you know I just joined Outkast who are a relatively new team (less than a year old). I have only been playing with them about two months and my first tournament with them will be this weekend at the Angel Cup. I know they have been less than impressive at the 2 millenium events they have played, but you have to give us credit for jumping right into the Pro Division. We will see where we stand this weekend and hopefully we will shine.

Hey Bud

I forgot Redz - making it happen for sure!!!

There are some good teams out there - now we need some great ones!!!

I think Nick is right too - the top end of northern paintball is, on average, higher than the south. The south has Rushers, Tigers, Shock, Backlash (OK Outcast Chip) and Raven & Campaign (both improving)

The north has Banzais, Kellys, K2, JCS Imperial, Chameleons, Killer Clowns, Redz (north??), Nitro, Viper, Tremmor and a few others besides.

Would it be great if we got the best out of these teams and tried putting a team together? Hey X-Ball!!!!!

Seriously we need to get a UK championship - say in October after the Millenniums have finished - where we can all get together, at the same time, and duke it out!!!! Brit ball only - no jonny foreigners!!!

Hmmmm??

Pee gee has hit the nail on the head with his results post, what have any of these teams recently won? afterall, aint winning what its about (nobody plays to lose)?. So far this post has been all about (apart from a select few) buttsucking and promoting ones team....

~ teams need to be consistent

~ teams need to be fair on the field, we all know who the teams with reputations are if you play the tourney circuit....

~ Do people not pay attention to midlands masters results then? is it all based on whoever plays the series?

I aint mentioning any names here but a few of the teams people have recommended havent won anything major, to my knowledge anyway. Now before someone (or most of you) go about givin me a flamin response, i aint tryin to put any teams or anyone down at all..... most of you have met me or have had chats on this forum so you know i wouldnt say this out of spite or to piss anyone off, so go easy!

to add my pennies worth watch out for twisted......

peace

The answer to your point as to who has actually won anything then really the answer is - very very very few.

Shockwave has the biggest claim - they won Sweden last year and have made the finals on several occasions.

Rushers won Campaign (nearly 2 years ago admittedly) at Amateur level and to date have reached the Am finals 3 times at Millennium events notching up a 2nd, joint 1st and a 1st (and a second place in the series) and the semis on a further 3 occasions.

Apart from these two teams only Banzais have reached a Millennium final out of all the Brit Ams and Pro's - stark reading!!! (there have been a few teams to make the novice finals of course).

So results where then - at home?? Do they count in this discussion??

Most of the teams that attend millennium events concentrate very heavily on them. The events at home are preparation for the Millenniums. Maybe that is why the tourney scene at home is so disjointed. The real old school rivalry for the top spot at home in the UK simply isnt there anymore.

The Millenniums are just too important and all encompassing. But do well there and yu can count yourself in the top end of Brit ball I think.

So as for buttsucking and promoting ones team - do I state fact or fiction regarding the results?? As for MM results - no we dont especially.

Just my thoughts

Mark

Don't worry bro I aint gonna blow this thread by goin on about using your ass as a barrel plug.

You got a bit of a point, but, if you read what some have written we state that the top 5 teams or so ARE predictable; because they are the only ones that have been playing consistantly well, and making finals or not these are the teams that have been putting the pinch on the real big boys and getting UK paintball noticed. Shockwave (eg) suck 8 out of 10 times on paper when they go to the states BUT unless you actually go and see each game you can't really say they don't get ANY results, the pro cut on the world stage is 8 at the very minimum maxes out of 10 to make semis, even at 8 you're pushing it but if the like of Shock or Banzais or Tigers can manage to whupp 7 maxes consistently then surely that in itself good result, ok not good enough but better than the rest of us.

As for local events and teams, I think the whole idea of the top teams means on a big scale, teams that want to be recognised worldwide. You could be the greatest team in the world but if the furthest you travel is Nottingham then you aint gonna get nooooo recognition whatsoever. This is why we need to know up and comings, the teams that want to play well and strive to beat the best teams out there and sacrifice the glory of some midget silverware every other month to play towards the larger goal of being reeeaaaal good.

A point of having a large world cup style event in this country hosted by the midland masters organisers was discussed on another thread which would be great for local tourney ball in this country AND would raise the game of all teams that entered. This would also encourage some of the cool teams that don't wanna come out of their shells to have a proper go at it. We (K2) really want to play all the Millennium and be **** hot ass rippers but (a) we can't afford it yet and (b) we lack experience, which you only actually get by attending the top tourneys. A good level tourney series would help all our potential teams along I think.
