Ramp....I can only hit 1.5bps on semi now cos my fingers are now lazy with the ramp...damn you ramping! :(

Are you serious?

That can't be true... First players pick up a gun and can shoot at least 5... Also you have to get it going faster than that to ramp don't you ?

No Steve

Your idea was equally ridiculous i'll agree, but it made things more difficult for players, and instead of deleting a skill-set, it introduced one. My phony suggestions (in case you didn't work out that my tongue was firmly lodged in my cheek) made things easier for players by removing a skill set, creating yet another 'level playing field'. My point was that when you get to a totally level playing field, with all skills negated, we will all be able to beat everyone else, because it will all just come down to luck.

Funny that you thought I was trying to 'hold water' with anything. Perhaps you need to take me a little less seriously, or yourself, up to you.

Your 'don't take yourself so seriously' is as feeble a non-response as the 'ha ha very funny' used by people who can't think of anything meaningful to say. I'm just discussion the merits of ramping, don't try and make it something else because your assertions don't stand up. I'm well aware that you weren't seriously suggesting runners and were using it as a parody of ramping. It was the idea that you could generalise the disadvantages that held no water. And the hoppers were only one example, you know there have been plenty of example of a skills that has been removed over the years without ruining the game or making it less skillful. Semi made it easier to fire faster. Yes, it removed one skill, but it brought a whole lot more into play just like ramping.

You can't be serious.

...and don't use that tone with me, young man. I have and do say many meaningful things. A pissy student attitude will only make you come across as a pissy student, not a tag to be enjoyed.

Anyway Steve, if you want to talk seriously about ramping (rolls eyes), then say something serious. I will then counter with something serious. Unless you claim your hopper analogy was serious, but I can't imagine that.

My thoughts are clearly stated above. Pick something you don't agree with, and then lets have a sort-out. I have argued against ramping being a good thing many times, on various threads, and the whole situation generally reaches an impass when it comes to the US, because a small amount of teams at a high level have been permitted to ramp within set rules. With Europe, I don't think anyone could put forward a valid and legal argument for ramping being allowed, but you are welcome to try if you wish. A solid argument should not include 'because I like it' or any other opinion-based drivel.

Lets see what you've got then Steve. Lets see whose assertions stand up.

Good to see continuing to beat that dead horse, Missy.
What I don't understand is how any of you can, with a straight face and any notion of accuracy or intellectual honesty, claim there is any difference, except one of degree, between so called electronic semi-auto and ramping anyway. And, no, I won't argue it again as we've ben round and round that one forever.
I must say tho, Missy, you must be thrilled that the Smart League Show upcoming will be using made-for-the-event semi auto only boards that will rigorously supervised. It is your dream come to fruition. :) (Likely in more ways than one.)

Slightly off topic I have a question you might be able to answer. Okay, two questions. How is it there has been no mention of the NPPL at all in the U.S. Paintball Championship shows? (At least none I can recall seeing or hearing.) Why do the commentators for the show keep implying that the semi auto markers in use are capped at 15 bps? This has been mentioned at least once in every show and while they don't say "capped" the implication is plain. Just curious.

1. Yes, whatever, I am sick of talking about ramping. Its a dead-end topic for more than just your reason. Its the rsamping 'fan-boys' that keep dragging me back in. If they would just admit that they prefer ramping because they suck it would be fine. But no, that would be too real.

2. ESPN wanted to push a more relatable name for their audience. Therefore the US Paintball Championships is what they wanted to call it. Regular references to the NPPL would have been confusing. Unlike some leagues, the NPPL is not overly bothered about their own brand recognition at this stage, more about listening to what works from people that know what they are talking about, and furthering Paintballs TV chances for the good of all. :D

3. This is a problem that has come about from the out and out stupidity of the players that ESPN is interveiwing. The players keep referencing 15bps, which led the ESPN crew to believe that was the limit allowed. I am starting to think these players should be interveiwed BEFORE going on air, so that people can be found that can articulate intelligently and at least remember what format they are playing. Unfortunately the best players are rarely the people you want speaking on TV...

If my point was a train, you would be standing on the platform, red faced and panting, while mine cruised away from you with small children waving out of the back window. The children would be mouthing "you suck", which would annoy you, as the next point is not for another 45 minutes.
How can any of you argue against a point like this?!

Sorry, not adding anything useful here, just making sure that quotes like this dont go unremembered!!!:D

i suck at firing fast, i mean really suck

i still don't like ramping, i mean it's real good fun and i've had my ir3 spitfired so i can keep up cos it's not just those odd good players chucking 15bps at me, no now it's everyone so i joined the arms race

15 bps cap is a good move though
