From Pikachu :
If shorts were to be worn, would leg hair be deemed cheating?? Would they make you shave your legs (as one of my friends is a carpet monster for instance).
Depends, do they make Robbo shave his head? You know why he shaves it, dont you? It's sexier than the hair he had there. :)

Hi Pete! :D

From Pikachu :
Other things with pads may be (with some pads) items such as velocity keys could maybe be concealed but, the biggest concern would be about the bareskin/paint and wiping off - for instance a shot wipes clean on skin, whereas on material it usually leaves some kind of stain and welt are not always visible.
I own a set of paintball specific cammies, company name withheld to protect the VERY guilty, that if I wipe off the hit, in 15 seconds you can't tell where I was hit. Except for the heavy anti-wipe paints and the expiremental "Wax Zap", it'll drink up everything hardcore. And this was made JUST for paintball!

So that argument doesn't wash with me, pardont he expression. Wipers will wipe, cheaters will cheat, and even if we played with electric sensor nets to show where we got hit and when someone would find a way to fool it.

Again, solution is to have a standard uniform, so there's no more arguments. Make something that'll fit the tall guys, and I'll wear it. Until then, there's no reason we can't wear shorts with knee and shin guards! WE won't scrape our legs on branches and brambles. We won't be blood prone to hits on bare flesh (Like tight cloth offers so much more protection!!!) Hell, I think we should og back to t-shirts too, becasue we're playing arenas, and if the refs are so good, they should be able to spot hits, or vasaline!

and why wouldn't reffs check for Vasiline before the game anyway?

Some pants with a good 34inch inseam would be great.

I feel like beeing rude for a moment ... I believe that people with hairy chests have an unfair advantage. and people with fro-y hair ... all that causes bounces ... make em shave it off ... uh ... yeah ...

I thought Robbo shaved his head because it gives the same effect as the Ricochett loader ... it doesn't break much paint ...

Damn I'm not very funny tonight ... oh well ...

Shorts or no shorts

I have read with interest all the comments about the great short debate and its obvious you all want to blame someone else rather than - YOURSELVES.

Come on lads the rules were posted on the internet well before the event.

All the teams had been given a copy off the rules.

At the captains meeting all the point being discused on this thead had been mentioned and if you did not have a rules review at your hotels please don't blame anyone else.

And if you could not attend the meeting I'm sorry but it only mentioned what you could read in the rules.

Oh and just a quick point for John next year do you think we should ignore the rule's on barrel plugs or chrono limits because the black cab driver has no hay. !!!!!!

Russel i think youve missed my point, i was comparing the bale of hay thing to the wearing shorts rule, as a rule which is so pointless that its never enforced.
Chrono limits and barrel bungs are serious rules which affect safety, showing a small amount of skin on the back of the leg due to wearing shorts is, in my opinion up to the player.

I realise it was my fault for not obeying the rules but i want my shorts back and i believe the rules need changing!

I think the bit that worries me about this is that players were allowed to go on the field & start playing, then eliminated during the game for a rule infringement that was obvious before they started. I could sort of understand if it was something hard to see like realising a tourney cap was loose, but it's quite hard to miss hairy bare legs if they are not allowed to be on show!

Basically what I'm getting at is if the rule is that important, then the player should have either a) been prevented from starting the game or b) given the opportunity to correct it before starting to play.

For teh sake of argument, not all teams are on the internet, so providing rules on the 'net really isn't that good.

If the captains were provided with rules, however, that IS a good point. However, not every captain will say "Ok lads. No shorts this time around." So blame falls there.

And if a player only shows up with shorts, they become forced to buy pants. That's all I'm saying. Eventually, someone is to blame, and if it's a player who didn't get / read / study the rules, then so be it.

However, in my fun NPPL rule of the day. You're allowed to carry a hand towel on your person. I'll have to bring one to Skyball, and wear it like a loincloth. :D
