This is great! That means I have a perfect career record against Chris Lasoya! I played him three times and I shot him each time. Somebody pass me an e-cookie, STAT!

I doubt anyone in paintball is as happy about this retirement as me. I have been dreading the next time I play him because even if I were a bit better player than him, odds were that he would come out on top next time we came up against one another. I am not a better player than him, things just worked out my way. I told someone when i started playing tournament paintball that I wanted to shoot Chris Lasoya, cuz that's how gunslingers make their name. Nothin' personal, ya understand.

I am going to every rave Chris ever throws from now on. I will hand out his damn flyers. I hope he is as successful as the wildest avarice any ecstacy peddlin' party hound could aspire to.

Woot.

Before you get too worked up, Gyro, let's see if this retirement last beyond the end of this season.

Btw, best not be talking yourself up like that or before you know it the PBN crowd will be calling shens--unless, you know, you have the video proof. ;)

My vote is for him to sit out the rest of his non-compete clause, then come back with a new Procaps-sponsored superteam.

And Gyro...

pics or shens

True, but Pro-caps could acquire a spot from an existing team, yes? And a number of teams have recently jumped up to Semi-Pro without the rosters to compete clearly focusing in the short term on simply qualifying for next season and incidentally giving themselves a possible lever on drawing the talent to fill the bill perhaps.

Agreed. In fact, I think all New England teams save one have moved to Semi-Pro.

However, I think its safe to assume that the ProCaps NPPL super-team will be a pro team, not a semi-pro.

Furthermore, the NPPL would frown upon (and attempt to prevent) the wholesale takeover of an existing pro team. So, for instance, they would stop me from selling the Hurricane spot to ProCaps for the creation of a new pro team.

Obviously, that would not prevent ProCaps from sponsoring an existing pro team, and they already have strong ties with many of the top teams (XSV immediately comes to mind).

My money is on a ProCaps two-league team with Trauma in Open X-Ball and Trauma players filling a roster up in 7-man (Shockwave Canada, perhaps...). Not sure where Chris would fit into all that

Maybe yes, maybe no. With the more demanding schedule for next season and the current status of a few teams I could see a situation where 3 or 4 teams beyond those relegated simply can't commit to next year's full schedule. Under those circumstances it would serve the NPPL's interests to allow in teams that would keep the league intact, I think.
