For paintball to advance then unity and structure is the answer.
It's time that MM, Bullys, M25, (not forgetting) SWPL & UKPSF get together to sort out running paintball in a uniform way. Yes lets have the four different leagues, but we need a "premier league" where the countries top teams can compete amongst themselves. The bottom two teams drop down and the top 2 teams in each of the 4 leagues play off for the 2 promotion places.
Just an idea

Good call.....

Sounds like what the country needs to be honest.. I am sure there are flaws, but nothing that cant be worked thru.

The M25 league is a fledgling league a the moment and needs at least a season to work thru its problems but I dont see with a bit of time the leagues couldnt have some form of collaboration with joint rulesets, standards and as you say a country wide premier league.

I agree!!!!!

I think now that paintball is picking up in the UK, we should have running leagues so that teams are matched in with other teams of similar abilty!

I would love to see this happen, would be good to work your team all the way to the top and battle it out with the best on a regular basis :D

it could also encourage people to actually join the UKPSF, issue ID cards so that people arent able to swap between lower/higher divisions between leagues as per millenium, charge a fiver for it and give UKPSF membership at the same time.

That way the leagues could be controlled properly.

Have an end of year bash after campaign sometime when its still at least a bit warm and have teams play off in one big huge final tourney for UK pleague players only..... just an idea ;)

the only problem with this is that teams often chose to play events based on if they have the cast or not.
I can see teams not showing up and causing trouble in league tables.

Just a thought.

How about the distance most teams travel to play in these events?
We now set off from the North East at about 5am....if we had to play somwhere really down south, that would mean an over night stop every event. This would put a lot of players off.
Why dont you have local tournys feeding into a "final" event.

So every tourny now is renamed.
Bullys-North
M/M - Midland
M25 - South

Play for 7 months, then in the 8th the winners fight it out for top U.K. team?

Just a thought.....

What a fantastic idea!

Lets try and get all the traditionally rival organisations together, sit down around a table, and try and agree a framework for a UK league, would be a lot of opposition, would the teams travel, what rules, formats, venues, and then there's the time, how long would all of this take...........?

Can it be done.......................who'd want to play?

Obviously I've started something here :D

Teams already play in league structures and they travel where they need to. There should be no need to force non premier teams to play all events. I believe as the system runs at present the more you play the more points you can attain and at the end of the "season" you will get two teams at the top in each league that can go forward to contest the 2 premier places, so the format need not change much.
Teams in the "premier league" are going to be the teams with the most commitment to the sport anyway so these are the only teams that should play all their events.
Why shouldn't the 4 league management teams and the UKPSF sit down and talk yes there is competition between them, but I am not talking abolition of leagues just a simple meeting of minds to form the framework of a joint governing body with elected members.
(N.B. I'm in no way trying to usurp UKPSF, but I don't know much about it or its aims. I just know it exists as a body that represents paintball and therefore in turn must be represented.)
If leagues believe that they alone are the future of the sport then the sport has no future. We MUST work together.
One of the things to protect against is the "premier league" monopolizing sponsorships. At the moment all teams can benefit from some sort of paint deal and it should remain that way.
Sorry to say one of the bad points is that teams may have to choose which league to represent, although if a team wishs to play in 2, but be only eligible in 1 then why not as long as they declare they eligibility pre-season.
We all have hectic time scales, but if there is something that must be done we find the time.
It's up to your team Blakey to get together with Bully's , Sparklie's etc to find the time. Talk is so cheap

This is only an idea, my vision of a way forward for UK Paintball
It means change especially at the top, not so much at the bottom, but is it not the top level of the sport that needs to change.
