Absolutely - this is going to be the most open and exciting season in the Pro leagues in Paintball's history.

NPPL and NXL events are all winnable by a good half dozen teams, maybe more, which simply hasn't been the case ever before.

Not really,

1 Philly Americans 2003 and 2004 NXL WC Champions
2 Trauma 2005 NXL WC Champions
3 Boston Red Legion
4 XSV

Phily and Trauma have 3 seasons NXL experience over the other 2 teams.

Legion are an awesome outfit, but getting used to playing with their new players, and third place is nothing to be snifed at.

XSV have an all star roster, and will get stronger throughout the year, 4th place in their first NXL event is a great result. With players luike Bains and Takamoto getting used to playing with XSV they will only get stronger as the season geos on.

Look out for Oakland, Dynasty, Raiders, LA and the above 4 as the season unfolds

The new scoring system is going to cause a few upsets :D

Still there is an advantage. At least teams wont sit on points to try win their games ie. like a 6-5 win :)

The Divisional scoring is more than pure win / loss. It's why Gridlock won every game and didn't get through, I think points scored is the decider.

So a 5-4 win is worse than a 7-5win in the Divisional stage.

***edit - just checked the scores and Gridlock seemed to lose their second quarters game, so perhaps I'll blame pbstar ***

Basically if you kick someone's ass you get more points. If you just barely beat them you get less. Such as we played d3 xball(and won 1st yay) so it's a race to 5. If you win 5-0 you get 100 points, if you win 5-1 you get 90, if win 4-2 you would only get 70

And is this a good way to do it or a bad way to do it?

There was much bitching about this at the tournament, especially by teams who had man narrow wins but didn't advance over teams who had blowout wins and a narrow loss.

End of the day teams that made it through will love it and teams that didn't won't.

But since all teams knew going in what they were going to have to do to advance (at least any team that actually thought about the new scoring system) ... it's a level playing field and teams have no one to blame but themselves :)

I liked it but obviously it worked out well for us. Maybe they should have something like bonus points if you beat someone really bad or something. Either way you go people are going to bitch. Everyone knew what they had to do before it started.
