If I remember correctly, Dynasty had a 5 point major in both the 1st and 2nd half. Both teams had issues shooting their paint in the extreme cold. It appeared that the Russians were making the moves quicker and were getting some easy g's on Dynasty that Dynasty would not normally give up.
Hey Ron, I heard a lot of the new teams were getting 5 minute majors the first day. Was this just a matter of getting used to the NXL reffing?

I can tell you there are a lot of penalties being thrown on both NXL and non-nxl teams. We had a lot of penalties in our first match, and have a had a few each match after that. We have also gotten some gun penalties for shooting hot, even though we chrono on at under 280, there's quite a difference between the chronos. The cold is doing weird stuff to everyones equipment. The teams shooting evil are just destroying their paint due to the cold. It's not uncommon to see 1-3 people serving penalties at any given time as well. The general feel from our guys is the refs are doing a good job, and it's fair because they are reffing consistently on both sides, not taking into account who's playing.

The thing I've noticed is the judges are really respectful, calling me by my first name, explaining any penalties even when I don't enquire and being straight up with everything going on. Overall I get a good feel from the NXL staff. I was not at the xball events last year, so I don't have anything to compare it to. I'm actually spending more time telling the guys to not argue with the refs then I've had to dispute a call with a ref.

Not really,

1 Philly Americans 2003 and 2004 NXL WC Champions
2 Trauma 2005 NXL WC Champions
3 Boston Red Legion
4 XSV

Phily and Trauma have 3 seasons NXL experience over the other 2 teams.

Legion are an awesome outfit, but getting used to playing with their new players, and third place is nothing to be snifed at.

XSV have an all star roster, and will get stronger throughout the year, 4th place in their first NXL event is a great result. With players luike Bains and Takamoto getting used to playing with XSV they will only get stronger as the season geos on.

There are an unbelievable number of top teams in the NXL, I would very much doubt that we will see the same teams in teh top 4 at each event.

Look out for Oakland, Dynasty, Raiders, LA and the above 4 as the season unfolds
