Problem is....

...In the midlands we aint got ANYWHERE to practice Sup'Air!!! last practice I had I had to travel all the way to John Sosta's Back Garden(!) in Colchester!! which is too far from Kettering for regular training.

Anyone know of any decent places to practice in the midlands?

Matski,
it is three times a week as you rightly guessed but it's not so much how many times they train but what they do when they get there that is so important.
This alone sets them apart from any team I know let alone the sheer number of times they train.
'Reductionsm' is where it's at !!!!
All the time we ignore that, we let them get further away !!

So what does the UK have to do to become the best in the world??

I've heard people talk about we will have to go upto 10 man like the US if were going to start competing on the world circuit. Although I don't think we have enough commited players to form a large base of 10 man teams.

Only the richest (or ,most sponsered will survive)

Now this has annoyed me a bit....

Robbo: only a team with sponsorship or funding (or they all ahve Uber jobs)......such as the russians or top yank teams can afford to train that much. And to be fair they are close to being at the top end of the sport. But who in the real world can afford to waste a box of paint per player everytime they practice (i'd be very surprised if it was less-and very intrested to learn thier drills).

Put this into perspective of the aspiring player, who wanted to become as godly as some of these pro's seem... = (in the UK thats £40 per box, 3 times a week,+ travel) thats b4 you even think about going to a tourney.......you do the math...

So to all those teams that dont have sucha perfect training facility and all the paint you can eat, dont sweat it, you can train like the rest of us, as and when we can.......

Pestilence, you obviously did not read my post and if you had done, it may well not have annoyed you.
I said, 'It's not how many times they do it, it's what they do that's important'.
In that case, unsponsored teams are just as able to train properly if they know what they are doing.
Problem is, too many people disappear up their own ass with outdated and inappropriate philosophies regarding training.
You could do a proper training training session with perhaps (at most) two boxes of paint for the whole team.
It is then up to your pockets how many times you do this a month but please don't try to tell me the pursuit of paintball excellence is solely in the domain of the super-sponsored teams, coz it ain't !!!!
And with respect, I think I may well be better placed to do the math than you and believe me I have done it, this paintball excellence to which I refer is open to most people and teams, it's purely a matter of direction and discipline and not listening to bull****.

I agree

As we all know, Russian Legion is sponsored by Russia.

If the whole country sponsored me, I would train 3 days a week as well. Unfortunately I get paid in dollars not pounds so it costs me 1 1/2 from what most Brits pay to play. Our team gets lucky if we can afford to train once a month and catch a tourney once a month.

Simon, whoever suggested going 'ten man' was the only way for the Brits to improve is talking out of their big fat ass.
The Russian Legion ain't ten man and they have beaten all the top Yank teams.
Nuff Said :)

A guy called Sergei Leontiev sponsors them, he is also their captain and vice president of a Moscow Bank.

True

Any tips/ideas?- the biggets problem is that this is a new sport, and thier is very little information around .......

How much do YOU pay whilst training then?

this paintball excellence to which I refer is open to most people and teams, it's purely a matter of direction and discipline and not listening to bull****.

again I agree, but if you dont have the experiance of being at the top, how do you know what bull**** techniques work and wot dont?
