I think it should be aloud if you whisper it and only people within a certain radius can hear you, like maybe one or two metres around you. Like when you get mugged in the face by someone coming out the same side of the barricade as you and they're ramping and you end up bleeding out of your teeth (true story). I reckon it's ok to whisper a little "Damn and blast you" as long as not many people hear it.

There is no need for swearing but it happens and it is always going to happen.

The only time i hate to see it is when it is being address at a marshal or any field official and if that happens then the marshals and officials need to come down on them like a ton of bricks and stop it.

But then if you got caught swearing the marshalls arent exactly going to have a soundmeter ( or what ever you call them) and measure how loud you were. If you get what I mean

its not really an issue but i guess its all down to how it is policed too.

i in the middle of a game i was to call another player a '****ing dick head' or call the ref a '****er' then i would expect to be penalised for unsportsman like conduct.
if how ever i had just been lit up and hit a fair few times i would expect to be well within my rights to exclaim '**** me' or similar without a problem.

all tournies will have a rule that covers unsportsman like conduct, wether they have a rule pin pointing swearing or not

It all comes down to how aggressive you are. I've seen team mates think that they were unnecessarily (what a word!) bonus balled but in fact they overeacted because of the adrenalin and they went on to threaten to "knock their f**king head in". When you're on the field you have a different state of mind to when you're watching or marshalling.

Over-the-top use of expletives shouldn't be tolerated but a little sympathy should be shown to those in the middle of a firefight.

IMO.

Oh my GOD there goes every Scottish Player in the World, okay, don't think...

Excuse me Marshal, would you mind checking that player as I think I may have hit him and I think I may have seen him wipe....

or

Get him ****ing out of there judge, ****ing leave you **** **** *** *** *** ***** ****

Thank you......kind sir

I'm afraid adrenaline does take over for 7 minutes on the field, and oh my I have heard Robbo swear.....it's brilliant....like Bob Hoskins......only bigger ;)

ban people that don't swear......

Sid

On a serious note though, people can swear without it being offensive, I think directing your swearing is wrong, but swearing in frustration or without it being personal is fine.

That is a good point, weather i swear or not in a game i dont know, i have never really took the time to tell, but if i do, I dont swear to cause offence to someone atall.

For example "Shoot the fcuker in the can" I wouldnt really have a constant hatred of that person, it just comes out!!

At the end of the day, swearing will always be there, but unsportman like behaviour (sp) doesnt need to happen atall.

The PA penalty point you instantly if they hear an profanity. Also if you read the rules to most tournaments its states that no foul language should be used.

however as a marshall are you really gonna penalty point someone if they just got bunkered and got hit in the "special bits" or anywhere perticuly sensitve like the hand...

its a rule that would be close to impossible to enforce because its all depends on what you are swearing about
