Without trying to sound all "You young whippersnappers" I've been playing this silly game for 15 years and theft has been a problem throughout that time. You get used to losing small bits like squeegees etc as some 'ballers seem to regard them as public property, but I've seen plenty of markers nicked in all sorts of places. It would be nice to think we're all above such behaviour (I've still got a Campaign banner somewhere:eek:) but I remember at the first Skydome event one of the traders leaving battlepacks on their display and players helping themselves as if they were apples on a tree. It pays to think of security a bit at all times, and while these marker stands are cool it might not be the best idea to leave your expensive pride and joy stood unsecured for the world to see.
Anyone who cycles knows to lock their bike even if they step off it to go to the shop, and applying the same to something as nickable as your marker is verging on common sense.

The other option are laptop alarms sold at PC world etc; a retractable cable with combination lock and motion sensor that sets off a very loud alarm if anyone cuts the cable or fiddles with it. I use one as a quick bike lock and they work very well to prevent casual nickage. I got one from Pissy Werld for £10 but they usually go for about £30;

They really do work and have a blinking led/beep to let people know your stuff is protected. Just clip one to the trigger guard and your marker can sit on its stand safe as houses, £30 is small beans compared to replacing your limited edition Paintychuckero 6000. Hell, you can even use it when the marker is on the ground between games.
Sure it's sad we should have to do such things, but better being sad about that than sick as a parrot that someone has blagged the ol' pride and joy.

just puts it into perspective, i lost £20 out of my pocket yesterday and that gutted me up, must be so much worse to lose a gat. I agree security did seem a bit of an issue around the staging area.

olly's lock alarm seems like a great idea, you could split between a team and then it's only a fiver each to keep all the gats safe...

I guess a basic help would be to talk to your neighbors, make a deal to just keep an eye out in between games, that sort of thing.

SC Stealers had a whole bag 2x Markers and all the normal accessories stolen from the NSPL's last event so theft is on the up.:(

At the moment there is no safe way to protect your gear other than only taking what you play in so there is nothing left on the table.

I reduced all my gear from a massive gear bag to a ruck sack for peace o mind.

I hope we catch one soon to send a message to all wanna be thiefs to be like the majority and buy your own fcuking gear;)

Yeah Dek i'm gutted for you.....i have been seriously deliberating about security at my events, i was discussing with a Showtime player before Uttoxeter....it seems that everything has a loop hole, at the end of the day it does seem likely that a fellow baller has stolen it....and i guarantee if caught he will never be able to set foot at a tournament venue again....

I agree with Olly that padlocks/security of some nature on your kit bags seems an immediate resolution....

I haven't given up on you getting it back yet.......:)

I don't want to point a finger but we were camping at the bottom edge of the field. I did notice a couple of guys on quad bikes (not in paintball clothing) carefully squeezing around the tents. Could of been completely innocent but why squeeze a quad bike around tents and cars when there are loads of open spaces?

I didn't give it much thought at the time but the more I think now the more suspicous they looked.

Don't know if anyone else saw anything.

Just like to say were their any other teams besides us, the DVUS/DVUS TOO teams wearing BLUE PROTO tops.I didn't see anyone & I'M not accusing or pointing the finger either.
Reason I ask is we had a small problem with Abi from Kings Park Assassins that we sorted out privately (& publicly appologised) thats why we may have been seen in the area. Cos we, DVUS TOO were challenged about this just before our last game. It certainly wasn't me, cos I'm buying Wendy's Ego 05. I don't believe it was anyone else on either DVUS TOO or DVUS. Reason being they have just purchased or are in the process of purchasing, DV8's 05 Ego's.
That said, you the theiving bar steward give it back NOW! The sport is expensive enough now as it is without the added expense on my entry fee to pay for the security if my kit that won't actually STOP YOU. Will it, No it won't,it MAY DETER YOU cos if you really want it you'll take it anyway no matter what.
So, THANK YOU whoever you are for not only making the game even more expensive but also for bringing my team DVUS TOO, & DVUS into suspicion. We are sponsored teams attatched to DV8 so it reflects on all. These are my own words & personal feelings, nothing to do with the rest of my team & certainly nothing to do with DV8 or DVUS. I am still new to the sport (5th koth 4th as captain) & if thats the way to promote the sport I DON'T WANT IN. I appologise to anyone I may have inadvertantly offended it wasn't meant to offend, but, YOU..... YES YOU, THEIVING ******* GIVE IT BACK NOW!!!!!
