Agree with you both - good considered responses. The football reasoning is a good one, the only difference being that there are consequenses of that type of behaviour in football but not in our sport, no 1 game bans or penalty point system which means its just going to keep happening.

In both cases on Sunday it was sorted and did not break out into a fight but it took time and whereas I agree that we all get heated and feel confident that there are enough people around us to keep the lid on that does not help with how it looks to spectators. Football has been established for hundred of years and will not "fail" because of bad language or the odd punch thrown. Our sport however is in its infancy and as such we have to be very vigilant on what image is presented.

Maybe I have got it out of all perspective and the odd incident is to be expected and if so fair enough but interested in others opinions.

No Mark, I don't think I was stood too far from you.

I've been in enough fights over the years and seem enough brawls and they are always pointless (and usually alcohol induced) and resolve nothing... But this was something else...

What I saw sunday, for once had me speechless. A grown man, about to kick off with another man over a game of paintball. Not a girl, not money (the two usual candidates for fisticuffs) - paintball. I just couldn't believe what I was seeing and hearing. And it happened twice!

I felt most sorry for the marshall the first time around because he took so much **** on the chin I just couldn't believe it. Whoever you were you deserve a medal for keeping your cool. I amazed you didn't ban him or something on the spot.

I don't give a toss what anyone says or how important the game is to you etc. Every one who goes is competitve, everyone wants to win the game. But that's the thing. It's a game, just a game, get a little perspective for crying out loud! Be annoyed about it for sure, but effing and blinding at other people (yourself is fine - I do it every game!) and in some instances offering a fist fight - please.

That's just the kind of crap I stopped playing Sunday league football because of! Every week there would be a fight because I did this challenge or there was such and such bad decision. If you want to fight - let's get into kickboxing. But paintball should be paintball...

Yeah things almost got heated on field two a couple of times (was marshalling there) but the thing you have to remember when marshalling is the fact these guys have got really pumped up for the game, adrenalin and testosterone flying everywhere, so its kinda a recipe for disaster like smokin at a petrol station or something! So if they start havin a go or something best thing is just to make your point calmly and the reasons behind the call and then leave it at that!

Which field was that on, out of interest?

Not speaking for Mark but the two I saw were on field 1 and field 5 (could have been 4 though - it was an afternoon game).

Yep, 1 and 5 and respect to the marshall on field 1 for the way he handled the slagging he got and to Blakey for coming and and giving the marshall his support etc.

I'm not after a witch hunt for the players involved - as has already been mentioned, people get heated and Sh1t happens. What I am more interested in is what measures there are in place to discourage it from happening and punishing players/teams when it does.

Can anyone tell me what the rules are?

While we are talking about this huge respect to the marshall on field 5 (i think), who had to deal with one of these near punch ups.

Then got knocked out!!!

Then had to deal with a tiny :D dispute between us and team Rebel about moving on neutral players.

May I add all handled very professionally and amicably between us all.

But big up to all the marshalls who had to deal with stuff like this all day and sun stroke.
