Starting a team?

Sid Sidgwick

Tinkering ain’t easy
Lol the thing most people think about when putting together a team is sponsorship and how they can get free stuff.....well thats impossible unless you truly are great. My team play in Div 1 or 2 of the UKM (depending on whos playing) and have been playing together for 2 years and we have 1 sponsor (and thats the greatest training facility available-plug www.northernstarpaintballacademy.co.uk) who provides us with a training facility to use as and when we like. We get no freebies and ask for non we are happy playing and thats what should drive a team

KK,

I am a tourney player and like it more than rec-ball. It's better because it's fast paced and when you kill someone you get a sense of satisfacation.
There are more training dvd's etc that you can buy if you go tourney player so you get more experience if you might.
Also when playing tourneys you get prizes at the end. The bigger tourney the better ie if its like uk masters you get like 5 boxes a paint, gogs maybe and money. I cant think of a single rec-ball place where you get paid???
I'm going to be perfectly honest, I am very offended by that..
The Ionman, as pointed out by sid, gives out prizes. Last year it was a woods only event, this year (If I remember right) it is a woods & sup'air format.

Better because it's fast paced? Woods tournaments are as fast as you the player wants to make them. Satisfaction from a kill? Let me ask you something, what's more satisfying; getting a kill from snapping out and shooting where you've got a pretty much clear line of sight on an inflateable field, or snapping out and shooting through all the branches, leaves, twigs and everything else inbetween, and still getting an elimination.

Training DVDs...what difference does it make if it's filmed on a tourny field, as almost everything that's shown on any training dvd can be used in the woods. The only thing I don't recommend doing is a superman dive because you could land on something sticking up (That's my excuse anyway).

Now, for the person who started the tread in the first place...it seems like you are new to the game (Note I will never call anyone a noob), so my advice is to find a local team or two, one in woods and one in tourny if possible, and train with them at first, find out which you prefer. Try asking for guest spots at events and/or try to join one. If you want to do really well I suggest you leave starting a team of your own untill you have gained a bit more experience. Believe me running a team isn't glamourous, it's a truly thankless task. Worth it, but bloody thankless.

hemel hempsteead oooo love it
hey! i know this is going to sound really strange but think properly before starting a team! it is very hard work! unless of course you are jst doing it for fun then ull be fine but if you are serious u will be goin mad soon enough! starting your own team will be a great experience but also a hard one you will fall out with people if you are not all agreed on the game plan. i know you are going to say we all have equipment and love the sport and are ready to play everyday of the year, but as good as this might sound it rarely happens lol so remeber be careful! if your thinking how do u know i ran my own squad for a year and a half RIP watford instinkt :( and i had a number of very determined lads, but time and money is always a problem unfortunately! but however if you do go for it goood luck!!!
