Hmmm, i guess this is the right thread to post in as im not sure wether im looking to start a rec or tournie team at the moment.

Heres the situation:

ive got 5-6 players plus me and were all looking to start a team of our own on the south coast.

however im not sure how to go about it

nearly all of us have our own gear (apart from 1 or 2 that normally rent or borrow from one of the other guys) but the ones without the gear will be buying soon

so, any tips or websites thatwould help me get this team started?

and could you direct me to rules of team games and such as im new to the whole 'playing without punters' scenario

KK,

I am a tourney player and like it more than rec-ball. It's better because it's fast paced and when you kill someone you get a sense of satisfacation.
There are more training dvd's etc that you can buy if you go tourney player so you get more experience if you might.
Also when playing tourneys you get prizes at the end. The bigger tourney the better ie if its like uk masters you get like 5 boxes a paint, gogs maybe and money. I cant think of a single rec-ball place where you get paid???

Your team has 7 players? So if i were you play a 5-man tourney and keep two for subs and swap around because if you play a seven man then you wont have back up players of something happens to one or two of your players.

So overall you get more credit when playing tourney.

Also if you go tourney give us a pm and i'll help you out with more stuff as i aint sure about rec-ball only that you were camo???

Cheers
Dan

yeah, find yourself a local site which does regular walkons and attend them regularly ... more than likely there will be some tourny players there who can give advice. Or even an existing team to join ;)

But i recommend the koth if you are insistent on getting into the tourny scene soon .. Koth also has free equipment rental (pmr's, pants, jersey, pack etc)

Tinkering ain’t easy
Gotta agree with Niall here, go to walkons and gain some experince and find what you want to do. I have been running my supair team for 3 years and its the most thankless task known to man! not to mention expensive (sup air is far more expensive than wodsball)

Angel Dan-Not sure you have enough experinece or knowledge to be advising someone on what to do, dont mean that to be offesive but some of the things such as more Kudos for playing tourney and that prizes are involved aint always the case (look at the Ionman for a woodland tourney with over £1500 worth of prizes each event) so please do a bit more research before advising people on where to spend their hard earned cash and time playing.

A tourney team is hard to stick together and keep toghether but the good times with your mates make it worthwhile. Just play a load of walkons (both sup air and woods if a site nearby has the facilities) and enjoy what you are doing then once happy you can work toghether as a team look into what tourneys are available to you to play and enjoy.

As for websites helping to set up teams there are none mate if you mean websites that may give you a discount for your team then there are plenty but remeber that you need to buy a lot of things to get the so callled "sponsorship (this is a seperate issue as their is no real thing as sponsorship available to most teams) and as for rules each different site/tourney has its own rules system so depending on which one you play the rules will vary but most sup air tourneys run on a moddified version of the Millenium rules (http://www.millennium-series.com/)

If you need any points clearing up or anything else let me know mate

^^^ what he said :p:D ^^^

But yeah. You'll have more fun attending walkons for experience with you mates.

Rushing into the tourny scene can end up in an empty wallet and many unhappy faces.
