I would imagine that they could pay coaches from the States to come over and coach, or pay you or others with extensive knowledge to fly out and coach. With that £7500 that would be an option
On top of Steve's answer, why bother using that money for a Euro team, just plug it into a Yank one, makes more sense!!!

ok, fair enough. Thats a fair point. I hadn't though abouit it that way.

Maybe i was wrong:)

Okay could we be seeing small problem in a certain teams camp.
After all theres no Smoke without fire.
Now why would all the companies choose to not offer any sponsorship to any smaller teams. I know that if I owned a paint company and all the other companies had a pact to stop sponsoring lower level teams, I would be rubbing my hands with glee. Also even if they did get thier acts together they would soon relaise that they are murdering the sport. Its not like its a cheap game to play, you need balls and if they are at say rec-ball prices for normal teams you would soon see these teams fold due to costs. Then what happens to you pro teams when there are no new players coming into the sport and no lower level teams to cherrypick from. Thus the pro teams will fold due to no new players replacing old ones going.
Take your blinkers off Sam, your on a pro team and thus get a cheap ride, just don't expect it to be free.

Hey I wasn't agreeing with him, just correctly interpreting what he was trying to say... so kindly leave off the "too"

To draw a parallel just because a Criminal Psychologist can predict the actions of a serial killer doesn't mean they're psychotic themselves :p

(Sorry about the comparison Sam. It was the best that I could come up with at the time) ;)

Reading between the lines, TBFKATL is implying that Shockwave are stumped for cash and are desperately looking fior ways to get a better deal this year.

The fact that you don't play for them and were raising a hypothetical point is obviously unimportant here.

Sam, first of all, good on you for posting. Whilst I don't agree with what you suggested it has been one of the more interesting threads on the boards for a while and the fact that it has got Robbo and other mods to give some lengthy and highly interesting insights serves to prove its interest.

From the point of view of a player who played with a 'sponsored' Novice team last year I would like to offer the following viewpoint. I'm not with the same team anymore and don't think I will be causing any problems by airing my thoughts. Plus I am sure the deals are different for different teams and also different sponsors...

We were Zap and Phoenix 'sponsored' but in reflection I think the benefits of this were far in the favour of the companies than the team. We got a couple of free cases of paint for 6 tournaments of the year. We were paying around £36 per case for the cases we weren't sponsored for. We HAD to shoot Zap paint all year and were 'encouraged' to use Phoenix for all our pb related purchases.

However, more often than not any tom dick or harry can phone a paint supplier and get cases of paint at £30 or less per case, especially for tournaments etc. So over the year I personally (the teams other members will probably feel differently) feel it cost us a lot more financially to be 'sponsored' as it meant we couldn't shop around for the best deal or use different paint when it occasionally caused problems. I felt better 'sponsored' by companies like LPS that always gave me a good deal on equipment when I was in the market for it (quite often as it was my first year playing tournaments).

To summarise, in hindsight I think I would think twice about 'sponsorship' of that nature again...
