hay its jeremy from team virus and i had a great time it was amazing because i didnt lose a game we all got to talk a lot and it was a lot more social becaise of the weather all of us under the little tent thingys. People can moan as much as they want but paintball has been played in worse conditions and people have had great times. So markie thanks for letting the day go on it was so fun and the t-shirt you got me fits :) and my team mate actually has a playing top that fits him so thank you loads from team virus and WE WERE UNDEFEATED!!!!!
So thanks to the teams that stayed as well it shows you lot are true paintballers and hopefully see some of you at koth next year and you to markie see you next NQ games.

Considering everything was not going to plan, the guys worked pretty well to make the day as enjoyable as they could even though:

  • Rats or mice has chewed huge f**k off holes in most of the bunkers
  • The weather was causing problems for several markers (including mine)
  • The compressor would not start (reason unknown)
  • The fill rigs were acting up due to the cold weather
  • About 10 -15 people left after an hour which caused the playing numbers to change considerably
All of these reasons were down to the weather Jon, so I apologize on behalf of NQ for not being able to control the weather, if you can find another site that can, please do share it with us as I'm sure we'd all enjoy going there. Oh, and don't even bother mentioning an indoor site, because for £10 green fee, nowhere in this country will be able to afford to stay open.

dunno why you are standing up for him...you from NQ?
but

I mean we even had to set up our own bunkers while markie c was no where to be seen.
Nope, Jon is a regular baller like you, that can't control the weather, like everyone else, but voluntarily helped us out. Cheers for your help today Jon.

And Markie was up at the top of the hill trying to fix the compressor, which we were struggling to start because of the weather!

oh yeh, seems to happen everytime though.

where was junior brown last time, a mate went and told me he didnt come. The compressor broke apparently and to top it off, THERE ARE NEVER COACHES THERE

Not to mention that you also avoided all my points and changed to something else.
Was I imagining seeing Junior Brown coaching people at the other newbie tournament?
And I'm sure if you ask Sean (sean2) he will be able to confirm me coaching the guy that was with him at the beginning of the day, or was I imagining that as well?

Ok let me quote this

On the 8th of December we will be holding the next etek newbie 3 man tournament.
(with new compressor ) <<<< hmmm? Organisation?

In the morning you will be taught how to walk fields and basic skills you will need for tournament play – such as important warm-ups and kit organization which are often overlooked, as well as game winning skills such as breakouts, lanes, primary and secondary bunkers, communication etc.

In the afternoon the tournament will start and your coach will be on hand to give you tips all day on your team’s performance. The coach will not be playing but will however be able to help you kit up between games and offer advice on game plans as you progress, building on what you have learnt in the morning.

SO markie c giving you some tips ISNT what he puts in his posts.

makes it sound like its the nppl or something.

also there aint any rentals guns, its other people guns rotated...
The NPPL coach their teams beforehand?
New compressor? I'm guessing you didn't notice the old compressor in the hut? And the new one at the top of the hill?
There were plenty of people there today that were there to coach (notice how Wozza, Seany, Markie and myself didn't shoot a gun all day? All you have to do is ask, that's if we don't come and give you some tips as we see people make mistakes...

yes then i wont have to help set up the site.
I don't recall anyone from NQ asking you to help set anything up?

came down today as well and yes i was one of the people who left for this other site Bazzy has mentioned.

Markie C i've read everything you said and understand the reasons and yes the weather was crap and probably was accountable for the majority of the problems.

however a few things that are not weather related:
the "safety" netting was not safe whether the wind had pulled it out of the ground or not, it was dangerous!
secondly there was no crono there at all, the only one there was, was one my friend brought down that happened not to work. sorry again, not good enough.
i know that I'll probably get flamed for this and get told to go and play punter ball but both of these could cause injury and serious problems for the sport.

also you said that there was no coaching because people weren't there on time. my group as with a majority of others were there before half 10. the field wasn't up until around 11:30 and that only because we decided to put it up. as well as this a number of people who i had spoken to who had hired Eteks in advance had not been given.

i know this was probably a one off and it is probably 100 times better in nice weather but oh well this was the one that i went to.

thank you very much for your explanation though and the refund as well.

Nick
Nick, I'm very sorry that people who had asked to hire eteks had to borrow ego8s instead...
And in regard to the chrono, the battery had been knocked out, all you had to do was mention it to somebody and we would have sorted it out straight away.
The safety netting wasn't dangerous, it had got tangled up because of the wind, but was untangled and securely fixed before any games started.

yes I'm completely retarded, i must have missed the big sign saying crono!

now i got that out of my system.

thank you for informing me, but as Markie has already said it was not functioning, the only other crono had been brought by my friend and again did not work. after trying my mates crono i asked one of the marshals/people who worked there who told me that the other one was not working. so i'm sorry i will change what i said there was no WORKING crono. does that make you feel better?

either way, no way of checking fps, then no play.
thats how i go anyway.

and Markie C again thank you for explaining your position and yes i understand how you were caught in a catch 22 as to whether play the day or not.
Markie has said the chrono wasn't functioning because the battery was loose, and like I said, all you had to do was ask for help...

Ok well as i can just see this thread descending in too a slagging match so i'm gonna try and leave it here.

first off mate, what have you achieved in your post, Markie has done a good job of salvaging/explaining a terrible day, for anyone to say it was not a bad day is either lying or stupid. I am satisfied with Markie's response and the action he has taken.

although i quoted all of your post i am only going to answer to some of it as i don't know/care how to use multi quote.

first off, yes no one asked us to put up the field but it was ****ing freezing and we had been standing there for over an hour. we wanted to play! so we started putting the field up. the fact that we HAD TO was only a problem because we had paid to play at a fully functioning ready to play site, which is not what we got. again as i said Markie has explained this.

Secondly thank you for your condolences that these guys had to play with ego 8's, and i think that making them invisible is a great invention, invisible paint! this should be sold to the army! there were 5 people i was speaking to who had paid for these guns and they got nothing, not an etek not an ego 5,6,7 or 8. yes i understand some people managed to have a go on an ego 8 but that does not make up for the fact these 5 didn't have any thing to play with. Markie has again addressed this so it would be nice if you would stop telling lies.

third, you say you cant play anywhere for a green fee of 10er indoor. first off i paid £15 to play, as did most people, as that was the green fee. and guess what, for £15 pounds you can play indoor! urban indoor in Wolverhampton, a great INDOOR site i may add, so please get your facts right.

finally this bloody crono issue is driving my crazy.
here is the events as they happened, I wanted to play, so i wanted to crono, as there wasn't one obvious i borrowed my mate's, it did not work, so i asked a marshal, he said he would go look, he came back and said the battery wasn't in it or didn't work or something like that and that therefore the crono wasnt working, we asked what batteries does it take, which he did not know. thus there was no working crono at the time, this was around 12.
so yes there was a crono, but it wasn't working, thus at that point in time it was just a really heavy, wet , paper weight.
I asked for help, and as far as i was concerned i received it. if a marshal says it dont work then i trust him.

also if you feel you want to have a go and defend the northern quarter feel free, i don't care!
today was not a good day, that is the complaint, not that the northern quarter is evil or anything like that.

Markie has done a good job at explaining the problems and none of this is really helping.
i am only replying because frankly luke you are so wrong it is untrue!

Sorry I couldn't make it today, I had every intention to but I woke up with a migraine (no, not a hangover before anyone says it, LOL). Sounds like you guys were really up against it today, sympathy from me! This frickin' country can be a real pain in the ring-piece with the weather sometimes init.

Let's just all move to Dubai or somewhere, problem solved.......

Markie, if you guys need any help sortin sh!t out before next year, you've got my number bud.
