I never said it was my house...i stick to the rules, like i would do in someone elses house.
It just gets a bit boring...
And Sid's was a passing comment in a point relavant to the topic.

But i see you got a sneaky lil edit in :p
Any suggestions or ideas on who we could turn to if the Millennium board don't react to player pressure?
Unfortunatley they have no competition on the western European paintball scene...

Well I'm glad you didn't turn this into a personal attack, and so I will answer your questions and will keep it civil from now on and endeavour to keep my cokdwarf comments to myself......

As you imply, the real tragedy of us in Europe is the fact the Millennium guys have no effective competition because this situation has enabled them to get away with far too much as we all realise (everybody realises except them I hasten to add).

That said, I would think the Centurio series is someone I would look to but I have never been to one of the events so I don't really know.

Also, it would come as no surprise that I think WDP would have had a look at holding an event, if they did, I know it would knock seven tons of sh!t out of any Millennium event held in the past few years.
WDP, won't be doing anything unless the financial landscape changes for reasons MIssyQ identified, it just isn't worth it for them

They could certainly do the job and give us all what we want, I went to numerous NPPL's in the US, the WDP guys were responsible for those and if they bought that to Europe, we'd be happy, well I would anyway.

I know of certain big companies who would love to support an alternate event circuit, one of these companies was sooo pissed off with the MIllennium they were willing to spend, 'every cent he had in setting up an event circuit in Europe', and he said this to me because he was so pissed off with the way he had been treated, I delivered the message to the MIllennium guys and they shi!t it.
I told them they were crazy to have allowed this to happen......in fact that ulrich prick was one of the reasons this American industry guy was soo incensed.
I had already told the MS to get rid of ulrich but ohhh noo, they knew better and kept him on to piss off many others.
It seems as tho the MS just find it hard to respond..I dunno, it just beggars belief they would allow this to happen.

The only other option is to mobilize yourselves and the industry guys, and people like Kee, Dye, SP etc etc would all be wanting changes made and thus are ripe for approaching.

Unfortunately, the MS really hasn't got the right people on board, some are OK, some are not.
It's not gonna be easy whichever way we go, all I hope is, we actually do change coz if the MIllennium Board as is, sees us into the next five years of event promotion without reacting to its customers we are gonna have a problem, a very real problem.

Exactly - no competetion allows them to do virtually whatever they want as those teams wishing to compete on a European scale, realistically, have no-where to go.

That said, I would think the Centurio series is someone I would look to but I have never been to one of the events so I don't really know.
I've never been to one of their events, nor read much about them.
Has anyone on here? Would be interesting to see what the reaction to their events was.
However, judging from the lack of interest from Western Europe, i'm gonna go ahead and guess it's not worth abandoning the Millennium for? Or even puts any pressure on the Millennium's what so ever.

Also, it would come as no surprise that I think WDP would have had a look at holding an event, if they did, I know it would knock seven tons of sh!t out of any Millennium event held in the past few years.

Well surely if it can be done by WDP, it can be done by others? I don't know how much of a market they have in the states compared to the other companies, so i don't know if other companies have the ability to do it alone...or whether it would take a few working together (instead of suing each other )

Lastly, it would take people with real European contacts to sort this out. It'll need to be marketed across all the major European paintballing companies.
Refs would be an issue as well... aren't the EuroRefs linked with the Millennium?

£500 per team, a fair price you may think but lets just analyse what the promoter has to do with that........ with a one day event.

Lets start with before the event....
Phone calls - hundreds of them.
Site rental at least a grand a day and how many days do you need the site for ?
Marque hire about a grand per thirty teams.
Table hire you wouldn't believe how many you would need about £3-5 each
Insurance this is team entry dependant but no less than £40 per team.
Portable Toilets @ £70 per 4 teams.
Set up crew - site and entry dependant but allow six per ten teams and remember they will need hotels and food.
£18, 000ish for 30 teams

During Event

Field refs @£70 each Minimum 5 per field.
Field ultimates @£100 each 1 per field.
Off field staff @£60 each allow 3 per running field.
Food, water, a bucket load of administration equipment.

Then you need for each field.
Nets and Posts - well you do want the balls to stay infield don't you! they may be included with the site or they may cost you £1500 per field per event.
Bunkers - I have been to events where they seem to have forgot them but in this case lets give them some. About £4000 each field and if you are lucky you can use them ten times before they are out of date and you can struggle to sell them for less than half what you paid.
Chronographs £250 for each of the main ones allow two per field.
Hand held £55 and you need two a field.
Shot counters (if you are using ramping) two per field @ £80 each.
On field Blowers 1 per field @£90 each + fuel.
Computers for event and field admin if Xball allow one per five teams @ £350 each.
Major equipment cost IE Merlow(cherry pickers) about a £100 per weekend plus fuel each.

Would you like security! well £60 each one please minimum.
First aid well St Johns want £300 per pair of staff.
Normal first aiders to comply with your insurance! the course is £80 each and you need a minimum of two per 100 players.
Don't forget all the fuel you are going to use reckon on £3-5 per team.
Portable generators those computer batteries don't last that long. £120 each and you also need all those extension cables wont you.
Would you like air for those guns.... well £65 per team for a ramping tournament.
Would you also like seating to to watch some of the good games well in the UK a seating stand works out at about £12 per seat.

£50, 000

After event.

Clean up and take down crew, six people per two fields per day, you could do it in one day depending on the clean up required either way the staff would be from the event so would have needed a hotel the night before as well as wages.

Have you also committed to pay some travel expenses !
Oh don't forget the tax-mans bit with VAT and other **** he gets of everyone.

Fifty quid each ................ how

Russ
£13, 900

Total of £81, 900 for 30 teams, 5 fields and renting the site for 7 days.

When you take into account, if you found the right venue a lot of this could be avoided. Such a portable toilets, markees (for players area), seating, netting and bunkers. (might be fun finding an existing site in Europe with netting and bunkers thou).

However, some of the items you need could you not get trade price? Chrono's for example...got sponsorship from a paintball shop...they give you all the little bits you need for free or trade price, and in return they can have a small sized trade stall at the event?

Also, a lot of those costs are fixed. You won't need more than 5 fields so the number of staff you need on those fields won't change. Obviously 5 fields for 30 teams is WAY too many fields!

So say 100 teams, 5 fields and 7 days renting the site for £100, 000...

Now when you think some companies throw away £6million on lawyers it seems like pennies?

100 teams at minimum of £500 entry = £50, 000
5 major paintball companies = £10, 000 each? would they pay that? ...i have no idea.
then a number of smaller companies paying £2000-5000.
Plus charging photographers and film crew on fields...i'm sure i read somewhere an event pass costed £500odd?
