Schedule

It only hurts the schedule if you let the players argue about it.

That's a big problem right there - paintball players think they're entitled to argue every stinking call with the officials, even in the middle of games. That's plenty easy to fix, if you get yourself some refs with balls and empower them to fix it. And have some balls yourself, as you'll have players raising holyhell when you keep pulling 1-4-1's because they don't know how to get in a deadbox.

As far as the schedule goes - you hit the nail on the head. What's the biggest reason schedules fall behind? I'll give you three guesses ;) :D :D
Whale, I'm always reasonable--even when I'm inciting the mob.;)
And, if you somehow failed to notice--I'm also always right. :D (Pete's on vacation so somebody had to say it.)

I thought I should point out that from what I've seen and heard Steinar is a good ref and ultimate, even if he is a bit cookoo (like many Norwegians). I'm sure he is fair, consistent and unbiased.

And if there are rules present that are irrelevant to the integrity of the game or impossible to maintain they ought to go
And in the meantime? When the rules still are there?

Those of us going over to the NPPL from Scandinavia to be headrefs have some qualifications. Thats why we are there - like it or not.:D

We altso put a lot of pride in doing this to the best event out there. Thats altso why Joymaster is the best reffed tournament.

I'm very proud of the crew on my field - they all worked very hard (and i hope if i do Miami, that i can work with them again)- we all worked together as a team, but before the semis we where in lack of refs.

Schedule: If you use 1 minute extra pr match - that will give you at the end of the day a delay on about 2 hours. From the players point of view that's frustrating and that frustration comes out during the game or after the game.
What do you prefere?;)

1--make the calls. Here's why. In Chicago there were many complaints with refs pulling players (or not) for sliding a foot or placing a hand out of bounds trying to get into their bunkers with the wet, muddy fields. The NPPL reacted. By NJ the out of bounds lines were adjusted and a bold, highly visible tape line was used. The league(s) can't fix what doesn't seem to be a problem unless they are willing to take my word for it and so far that hasn't been the case. Go figure.
2--I don't have a problem with you or any of the other individual refs. what I'm advocating is revamping the system to make your job easier.
3--been there done that
4--and if you fail to take the time the next team and the next team and the next team think they can pull the same crap and you've still got frustrated teams. If there are clear, simple and precise rules for conduct and they are ruthlessly enforced the teams and players will adjust and in the long run it will be better for everyone.

And you should--the reffing this year in the NPPL is hundreds of times better than it used to be, but the fact that there are still issues just shows how broken it was.
