well one thing you actually need to do is get the retail industry behind a boycott. SP can't sell anything if the retail base won't support the products.

Think about it, if you could get 75% of US/World stores to stop selling/carrying SP products that will hurt their bottomline and chances of winning and at least help the other manufacturers fighting them.........................................

So now your challange is to get stores to stop selling, retailing, wholesaling, distributing, carrying, offering or showcasing the SP products then that will help.
As this is Mighty Quack first post I thought I say hallo first! :)

Right, I totally disagree with Smartparts action and I think the above idea has merits.

Other people on here have said boycott SmartParts products and others have said it wont work. Well if you tackle your local stockist it might, it works like this.

If you dont buy SP product then your local store wont sell SP product. Its all stuck on his shelves costing him money because its not turning over. He then reduces his orders or cancels completly. SP left sitting on a lot of stock that no one wants to buy. No revenue = No money for the $800 lawyers.

This will also work in the players favour in the long run. If you dont buy SP markers now, when the company goes bust after this all blows up in their face, you dont have to worry about after care/spares like those people that carry on buying their product.

So save yourself the long term aggro, don't buy SmartParts, eventually the industry we support your stand as well. I'd be intrested to know how their trade stands fair at the events they attend, probably don't make back the entrance fee!

If smart parts levy a lisencing fee, buying any marker will put money in their pockets.
Being that Smart parts is one of the most popular brands, why would store owners stop carrying their product line?

It ain't gonna happen.
The only think you can do, is vote with your money, don't buy the product!
I'll never buy anything from smart parts again, (actually i made that decision before i learned about the patent thing) but those ****ers arn't getting another cent of my money!
I'd rather pay a little more to get a product that isn't smart parts!
As irate and outraged consumers, this is your only course of action! (appart from guerrilla warefare ;) )

It's not redicilous, it's fine for them to try to protect their patent. It's redicilous if it gets upheld, which i heard that it had.

I heard that they won the law suit against ICD and that they're using that to drive their law suit against National and Bob Long!

I also heard that they wern't going up against WDP because they would lose. I heard that WDP have paperwork that indicates that their electro trigger design predates Smart Parts patents.

Of course these are just rumors, i have no proof, but if anyone actually knows maybe they could support or deny these rumors?

if they did it could bring the downfall of paintball which means the downfall of their company SO THEY SCREWED THEMSELVES! HAHAHAHA
Not necessarly.
If they exercise a bit of self control, they can make a LOT of money out of this.
They're now in a position to go to Bob Long, Kingman, and anyone else making electro guns in the US and ask for a few bucks for every marker they ever sold.
Then they can ask for a few more buck from every maker they sell in the future.
Basically the more markers the rest of the industry makes the more money they make. If one million electro paintball guns are sold in the USA next year, and they take $10 per gun, they've just made $10 million dollars without having to make any product, pay any staff, or cary any stock!

In fact it makes sense for them to ensure the industry is strong and healthy!
