I'd throw paintballs before I ever bought a Smart Parts product now. How in God's name does the US patent office issue such a blanket patent? The bad PR alone that SP has conjured with this lawsuit has put enough people on their bad side to make them be losing customers, if they go through with it and win they're gonna have a mutiny on their hands. I hope their greed buries them... so I can go defacate on their grave site.

It's not just SP. The patent office does pretty regularly in other fields. Take a look at some of the patents in the technology and computer fields.

As far as losing customers - SP probably doesn't care too much if their sales drop a bit. If they can defend their patent with their first lawsuit, they'll set a precedent they can use against other manufacturers. Then SP won't even have to sell their own markers to make a profit, they'll be making profit off other companies sales through the licensing and royalties.

ok I think I read on a very early post that even PLR's can be breaking the patent. How is this so? Cockers were using LPR's well before the SP were.

Also does this cover like add on frames? Onlt I am thinking that if a company has an electronic frame that can be added on (Racegun or E-blade) then surely people can go out, buy a cocker (which doesn't have an on/off switch) and slap on the frame and away they go. The compay isn't breaking the patent coz they aren't making a full marker with on/off switch. I could be completely wrong about this so be nice as its late and I'm tired.

If all this does happen (i.e. the law suit) then we will all have to go back to mag,s and cockers bloody fast things when setup right (RT with lvl 10 mod, or evo cocker with blade frame) and no one will use electro's (could we put that in the rules that no electric markers can be used so that we can screw SP even more?:D )

I always thought SP were money grabbing before with their different threads, boards etc., especially when I went to buy a powerfeed for my shocker and it cost me £50 for 2 pieces of tube which had been welded together!!!!
Now with all this there is NO WAY I am ever going to buy SP stuff. Hell I may even just get rid of my RASE trousers just coz they are SP (even though there is nothing wrong with them). Glad I got animal tops for the team rather than SP.
